  1. I believe the mods will understand sarcasm...
  2. omg you guys got me. Im baiting you guys into a debate and I stole my graduate research topic on something I didn't know...my topic, which isn't broad at all and totally deserving of a graduate level paper, is that nursing is understaffed because of corporate America. Nobel peace prize material.
  3. My coworker and I were talking about that with regard to NP programs. Less theory, more gross anatomy and pharm
  4. I'm sure if you looked at the state where I work you could figure it out
  5. Definitely depends where you work. I'm CVICU and we have 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 assignments and a lot of autonomy
  6. This is the American dream. You worked your way out of poverty. The country song think about getting married right out of high school and divorced is a personal choice though unfortunately. Studies show the having BSN prepared students leads to better outcomes. Which is why my hospital system (in the top 5 in the country) requires a BSN within 5 years of employment
  7. I don't think nurses are quite the modern equivalent of sweatshop workers. In what other profession can you make almost 30 dollars an hour from an associates degree. Oh and also with upward mobility through tuition reimbursement programs. I think it is a pretty good gig. Could be better, which is why I started this post.
  8. To what extent are we pitting ourselves against each other? In psychology it has been studied that marginalized groups of people (and rats) when oppressed start infighting. I believe some, not all nurses, feel marginalized and oppressed which leads to lateral violence. The question is how do we rise above it?
  9. haha I genuinely dont have a project. But I am hoping that discussion may facilitate change. And this is a fairly large platform for a discussion. I believe there is an entire generation of new nurses that are entitled and have been told they are special and that they deserve respect without earning it. Snowflakes.
  10. Totally agree with the whining. People need thicker skin. Facts don't care about feelings
  11. I love what you said about personal responsibility. So true. I see way too many noncompliant diabetic and HTN pts. It's no wonder they need cardiac surgery
  12. Bill and Melinda gates may very well eradicate the big 5 communicable diseases plaguing the world. Wouldn't mind being adopted by them.
  13. Now that is my original question. What conditions do you want to change? And how do we go about changing them. Let's be specific about which conditions need improved and then maybe we can find a solution
  14. So do you think a true capitalist system is the way to go?
