You should contact El Centro and ask them about it. Letters letting us know one way or another should already be out by now.

Congrats to everyone! All y'all that scheduled for Wed. March 27th know that you took my interview spots, right? Now I have to wait til the following week and hope my braids hold up another week so I still look professional for the interview! Lol! But seriously, just go in dressed to impress because it's the biggest thing of my life and I think for all of us as well. Don't be nervous. Be yourself. Relax and know it's the time to ask your questions to them as well. They're being interviewed too, right? Why do you want to be a nurse? It really is super hard just to even apply. But why do you want to be in the MVC program? We know it's an excellent program but why did you choose it? Think about the next steps of what we're doing and getting into. I feel we're all getting interviewed so sprinkle class of 2021 fairy dust on that and have faith. Off my soapbox now. Stay positive!

Oh dear. Don't hate your life now. We have a long way to go in this. It's just the very beginning and MVC has a very small staff to manage all the applicants. Just wait til tomorrow and next week! Surely they're going to call and send more emails. This is just the very beginning and I'm sure you can call and email them to inquire. If I don't make it this time I'm totally applying for Spring and will just take another class in the meantime. The hard part will be when we have to meet each other and study for tests and learn everything in the program. This is not the hard part yet so just relax and be patient for your email. Anybody anxiously awaiting the response? What are you doing to fulfill the time? I'm taking Pharmacology. Anyone excited about the process? There haven't been any recent posts. What have you all been doing?

You can't afford to do a C in this class or miss responding in my particular class. An 84 or something is a C! I'm like what what!????? The grading system blowed my mind at first but at the same time, they're preparing us for the NCLEX. Girl, get yo A my love!!! Do your responses to your 2 students right after you do your post if at all possible! You're already in the mindset and most likely already have your references up so it'd be totally simple to just respond at the same time, right? Get it girl! It's 150 words in my class but I seem to have a lot to say after my report and reading up on everything. Those points are crazy for our grades but spend the time to do it as soon as you post your discussion please. IM me and let me know if you're in my class please. You are about to KILL IT!!! Haven't gotten an email for an interview yet if anyone wants to know by the way. Going to do some Camp Gladiator to get me through this!

Me too! I'm taking Pharm at MVC right and it is killer! Intense and interesting. Wish it was slower so I could fully engage on what we're learning but still a fantastic class. Perhaps a slight insight, maybe 10% of what the Nursing courses are going to be??? Are you taking Pharm at MVC too? Literally...I'm just trying to do some fillers for the week as we wait. We're all anxiously waiting for the next 2 weeks. This is not even the hardest part!

Okay, well...stop it missy! ? Me too...but we've all got to do something healthy in the meantime. That's what we would tell our patients, right? What would you tell your patient going through this type of anxiety?

Good insight, good to know. Does not help with anxiety though! Dang.....25 points!!! How in the world do you get 25 points on this point system? I think I might take up yoga or meditation to get through this. Is anyone taking classes this semester?

Oh my! You guys! Calm down. We'll be okay. Just give them time to get through the applications and know we have all done the best we can do to get through this process. I'm so thankful we have Spring Break next week so take a breather please. We don't know the order of interview requests or rhyme or reason for the decisions. Please just give the administrators a quick break for the decisions. We got this! ? You all know you're awesome or we wouldn't be on this post trying to do something greater if you didn't believe in yourself! So until the 1st one gets the call or email for an interview and we all get to meet and go into this journey together, what can we do to take this off of all of our minds for maybe 2 weeks?

Hi Nikkiguz19, Did you take your Pharm class at MVC and online?

I sent the Quizlet link for the A & P review since that's what I needed to review for the HESI. I also sent the pdf and if you look in the very back it has a math section with an answer key. For most of the math you should be able to work your way backwards using the calculator to find the answer. I hope this helps for the HESI! I'm taking Pharm at MVC since it will transfer to El Centro but not vice versa. But at MVC, they don't round up and a C starts at 75. So a 74.99 is a D and you don't get credit for the class. An A starts at 92, not 90 or 91.99. Ugh!! Definitely going for that A! Sheesh!

What classes are you all taking for the Spring 2019 semester as we apply for the Nursing program and await the response? I wish El Centro sent out the acceptance letters earlier in the month of April but I'm taking Pharmacology online at MVC online to keep myself busy and focused on Nursing in the meantime. I can already tell the online course is going to be a beast! If anyone hasn't already taken the HESI and needs to take it to apply for MVC by Feb. 22nd or for Spring 2020 at any of the schools, let me know. I have a pdf Study guide for A&P and a great Quizlet set that helped me study for it as a refresher. I would also suggest going to 1/2 price books to get the A & P book if you don't already own one so you can refer back.

I'm assuming that if you have A&P II then you'll already have A&P I, correct? There are no extra points for having an undergraduate degree but it doesn't hurt. And maybe they'll take it into consideration. As long as you have your PreReqs: MATH 1314 College Algebra ENGL 1301 English Composition PSYC 2301 General Psychology BIOL 2401 or SCIT 1407 Anatomy & Physiology 1 along with your HESI and the other requirements for the application process. I'm enrolled in Pharmacology for Spring 2019 too but we won't get any points for it now if we're applying for Fall 2019 Nursing programs. Have you taken Microbiology yet? The points are calculated based on your prereqs. An A in the class = 3 pts. B = 2 pts. C = 1 pt. And your HESI gives you points as follows: . HESI A2 Score: Composite score of reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, Anatomy & Physiology and Math. If your score is: <75 = ineligible to apply 75 = no points, meets eligibility to apply 76-88 = 1 point 89 to 100 = 2 points Total points are calculated and then ranked numerically using the following formula: Points for Prerequisite and Support Course Grades + HESI A2 points = Total Points I didn't see that I was awarded points for support courses just yet but follow the outline and the best thing may be to schedule an advising appointment with Mrs. Self Drake to go over your information. So you'll only have Clinical days 6x during the semester or is it every Friday? I can't thank you enough for all of your help and advice! Are you at the NLC campus or El Centro? What shoes did you get for the program? I was hoping the new waterproof Healthcare Skechers would work but will need to wait until I actually get into a program to see what's needed. I'm so excited for you! I watched my mom work full time as an LVN while going for her RN as a single mom and she did it, making all A's...maybe a couple B's. So my mom, cousins, and aunts are all nurses. It's in my blood but I'm going about it differently since I got my Associates and Bachelors in business and work in Mortgage and love my company. Something is just calling me to Nursing.

Hey Bombaytweet - El Centro is using CastleBranch now for the immunization records. Be sure to follow the El Centro Nursing packet for directions. My TAT time 24 - 48 hours to get notices on what I needed to update. They were very responsive to everything. We have the holiday coming up so get your immunization record sent to Castlebranch so you have some time to repeat some items if needed before the deadline. Let me know if you need anything.

I'm sorry shauntil07. I guess I misunderstood your question. Adrkari is correct about Pharmacology not counting in the point system for your application for the Fall 2019 semester if you're taking it now. You just need the 4 prereqs classes. Pharmacology is not required to apply for Fall 2019.

Thank you babysplash! Since it's a day program, I don't believe I'll be able to keep my current job, but it would be great if I could stay and work part time. At the very least I'm trying to figure out other jobs where I can work part time around the school schedule.

Yes, you can go to the DCCCD Admissions office and request a copy your Official transcript from DCCCD which would have all of your other schools on it. It took me just a few minutes to get mine. It has to be the Official DCCCD transcript though that you submit with your application. I've attended 4 schools and DCCCD had all those transcripts already so I just submitted the Official DCCCD transcript with my application.
