confused about CGFNS exam
So, your saying that its up to me to find a legitimate employer who doesn't require CGFNS exam ? Does majority of employers need CGFNS exam for them to petition a foreign-educated nurse to work in US ? Do you guys happen to know any agency or employer who does not require CGFNS exam ? Or does anyone here in the forum got hired and is now working in the US without taking the CGFNS exam ? Sorry to bombard you guys with such questions. Just want to finally clear this things. Thank you so much Suzanne for always being a great help here in the forum. Thanks for your help and kindness.

confused about CGFNS exam
Is CGFNS exam a mandatory requirement for US employment ? Is it required in the state of NY ? Is it required by employers to be petitioned to work as a nurse in US ? Is it required for visa screening ? I had read the sticky of Ms. Suzanne that CGFNS exam is not a mandatory requirement except for state of Michigan and that it's only a waste of time and money. Then how come everybody is still taking it ? Will I encounter any problem or delays if I don't take the CGFNS exam as stated by Ms. Suzanne in her sticky that it's not a mandatory requirement ? This is really confusing for me. I want to make sure of this because I don't want to encounter any problems in the future just because I did not take CGFNS exam. I don't want someone (visa screen officer, employer or others responsible for my application) asking for my CGFNS exam later and telling them "Oh, I don't have it because I thought it's not a mandatory requirement that's why I did not take it" things like that and they would tell me that they can't process my application without it. As early as now, I want to clear this things up so that I can prepare myself. I want to make sure if I really need or don't need to take CGFNS exam aside from taking the NCLEX exam. If its really needed in some ways during the application or not. If I'll be petitioned by US employers without CGFNS exam or not. I don't want to waste time or money. Also, what I am learning here in the forum I also share it with my friends. I don't want to give them false information regarding this topic. I don't want to tell them that CGFNS exam is not really needed and will be shock later to find out that in some part of the application it is needed and creating delays and chaos for them. I trust all the people in this forum especially Ms. Suzanne. Please help me clear this things for me so that I and my friends may know how to go along smoothly in applying for US employment. Thank you very much. God Bless.

to Ms. Suzanne and others.... question please help.
Thanks Suzanne. I'll take your word for it. I'll be sending my documents at the end of this month. I just hope I won't encounter any delays or problems and that I may get the eligibility letter to sit for NCLEX exam even without local license. By the way, how long does it take CGFNS to evaluate my credentials upon receiving complete documents and fee ? and how long before i receive my eligibility letter to sit for NCLEX ? Thanks again for your great help. God bless.

to Ms. Suzanne and others.... question please help.
Will I encounter any problem if I don't take the Philippine board exam or obtain a license in my country ? I'm a BSN graduate and I plan to have my credentials evaluated by CGFNS for the state of NY. I'm gathering all my documents already and plan to send it to CGFNS by the end of this month. I haven't taken the Philippine board exam yet. Will I encounter any problem with CGFNS if I don't take the local boards ? Will it delay my credential evaluation ? Will the New York State Education Department issue me an eligibility letter to take the NCLEX if I don't have license to practice in my country ? I had read a thread in this forum similar to my question. I want to make sure as not to waste money before having things started. Another thing is, in obtaining a Visa Screen Certificate, will I encounter a problem if I don't have local license ? How about if I don't take CGFNS exam and go directly in taking the NCLEX ? Sorry to bombard you guys with so many questions. I'm planning to start my application for US employment. I want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing so that I won't waste money and I won't encounter any delays in processing my documents. Please help me and share your experiences in applying for US employment. I will appreciate your help so much. Thanks a lot in advance. God bless.

question
Suzanne, another question about CGFNS exam. Sorry if i do have many question. I'm quite still lost. This is my first time to apply. I don't have a single clue in applying to US. My question is, how about in the immigration and seeking an employer? I heard that most employer require CGFNS exam. Also, the immigration lawyer and the embassy here in my country might ask me for the CGFNS exam. Will that be a hindrance if I don't have CGFNS exam? I'm really thinking of not taking the CGFNS exam. I just want to clear if CGFNS exam is not required even for a foreign educated nurse seeking US employment. please clear this things more for me. thanks a lot.

question
Thanks for replying suzanne. I have another question. What about the "request for registration/license" part in the visascreen application? How will I fill that up? How will I tell CGFNS that I do not hold a license in my country? Will my visascreen application take more time if I dont hold a license in my country as compared if I have a license? Please reply. Thanks again.

question
Hi. I'm new here in this forum. I just finished my nursing education and I'm not yet a licensed nurse in my country (Philippines). I have a lot of questions. Please bear with me. Thanks. 1. I'd like to know if I still need to be licensed in my country (Philippines) to be eligible to apply in NY state? I plan to work and be a license nurse in NY 2. Do I need also to be licensed in my country to get a visascreen certificate? 3. Do I need to take and pass CGFNS exam to be eligible for NY state and get a visascreen certificate? Or is taking and passing NCLEX enough? 4. Is CGFNS exam pre-requisite in applying for NY state and for visascreening? Please clear this things for me. Thanks again.
