  1. Hi, I am currently a pre-nursing student. I go to a school that will require me to get my LPN (1 year) and then my RN (1 more year). I will start my LPN year this fall. When I was 13 or 14 I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and anxiety. I have had some problems with my anxiety and being a germaphobe / OCD regarding the germaphobia. Well about 4 months ago I stopped taking my medicine. After a couple days I felt great, my problems regarding anxiety (and the germ problems and OCD) and depression were hardly even noticeable. I felt normal. I went to the doctor a few weeks ago and my doctor wants me to stay on my medication, so I started back on it. Being on the medicine doesn't make me feel bad, it just evens days out if that makes sense? Then I got to thinking, will being on an antidepressant and having a diagnosis such as major depressive disorder and anxiety affect me becoming a RN? Will I not be able to take the NCLEX? pass boards (I live in the state of Iowa if this will effect anything)? receive my licensure for my RN (Iowa)? Work at a hospital? How should I go about this? When I apply for my licensure do I need to tell them I am on an antidepressant and that I have these diagnosis? What about when I apply to work at a hospital someday? I am very worried about this. Thank you for all your help in advance.
