casual position in Ontario
Thank you for the reply! When you say that I should take every shift that I can, does it mean I should do overtime if necessary? Do casuals get overtime $?

casual position in Ontario
Thank you for your reply! I am relocating to Toronto for this position and hearing that as a casual we usually get full time hours reassures me!! I was afraid that I won't get many shifts and end up relocating there for nothing!

casual position in Ontario
I have heard from fellow nursing friends that when you start working, you basically start off as a casual in a hospital. I am looking for jobs in Toronto and have been interviewed for a casual position. So it is based on availabilities and there aren't any guaranteed hours. I was wondering if anyone had been a casual in Toronto and how it went in terms of working hours?

Help!!! What is the priority for a sickle cell crisis.
I honestly would have gone with 3 too. However 2 indeed would make sense too since the sickled cell have much decreased ability to transport oxygen, and thus more oxygen is given.

Kaplan or uworld
The topics really vary from people to people, I only had 75 questions, not many topics you could cover with just that few. I don't think I had any on mental health, I had mostly developmental stages and child health.

Kaplan or uworld
I spent ~6weeks to prepare. I first read half of Saunders, stopped after half because it was getting difficult to retain information blandly. That took ~1month. Then, I used uworld for 2.5 weeks, I did 2 sets of 75q a day everyday to finish the 2k questions, read the rationale, took some notes. The day before NCLEX i crammed ~500 questions from Lacharity, read through the rationale the day of my exam. I did some questions from Kaplan, ~700 and watched a few videos, they were bad so I stopped. I don't recommend studying for several months to prepare for the NCLEX just because after 2month I'd start forgetting what I covered in the beginning and it's not helpful for me.

Kaplan or uworld
Uworld >>>>>> kaplan... Kaplan was terrible, their question bank has no rationale at all, unless you want to look up each question and answer on your own I highly discourage you from using kaplan. They aren't even up to date with the most recent NCLEX format. Worst 300$ spent of my life, I regret bitterly. Uworld is so much better and it's much cheaper too. I bought both along with Saunders and Lacharity when I prepared for NCLEX, I basically didn't use Kaplan so much I disliked it and passed with 75q in less than 1hr with UWorld + saunders + lacharity

Kaplan Readiness Exam
Kaplan asks you to "remediate" the questions, in all honesty, you're on your own for that. Kaplan only really puts in the minimal of effort, if any at all, to help you in your studying process. You can only count on it to do questions and then have them tell you the answer after. They aren't gonna explain much as to the "why" or "how" the answer is what they tell you. It just is. Uworld was much better and is only a third of Kaplan's price.

NCLEX RN Jan 4th 2018 + PVT
I scheduled my exam for Jan 4th 2018 at 2pm, I finished the exam in ~1hr with 75 questions, then they gave me some (10~20) extra experimental questions at the end of my exam, along with the 10min survey. I walked out of the exam at 13:10. When I first completed the exam, I thought for sure I passed, I just had the feeling the exam would end at 75 since question #50. However, the more I thought about it, the less sure I become, especially when I found out I got my first question wrong (I remembered the question and my answer and I googled on the topic). I've been trying the PVT since I received the Pearson email saying I completed the exam, and got the "good popup" saying "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." I repeated the PVT frequently, it is now 23hr after the exam, only got the same popup. Though this reassures me, I am still worried that maybe I did not pass. I'm from Canada, no quick result available, and the Ontario board is known for being slow...
