Foot care training
Unfortunately, RN's can't bill medicare/medicaid or private insurances, we have to be advanced practice ( nurse practitioner) in order to receive a provider #. I found this out from my board of nursing and I live in Mississippi.

Foot care training
Hey Elaine, I have yet to try it, but I am planning to order the dvd series in the next few weeks. I spoke with one of the ladies who actually helped with the certification test, and she recommended it. I'm real excited about it, and can't wait to get started. My sister's house burned early November, and my household increased by 6 people, so i've been unable to do anything extra. If you should get it and review it before I do, please let me know what you think and i will do the same.

starting a business- how to price my services
I too am looking to start my own business in providing footcare to the elderly. Right now I'm in the process of becoming certified as a Certified Foot Care Nurse. I feel this will help me as for as credentials and getting referrals. If you are not already certified and want more info let me know. If you have had any progress, I would like to hear about it. I don't know of anyone else in my area tha's doing this. This website is an invaluable tool. Good luck :)

Foot care training
Some of my coworkers feel I am getting in over my head. They feel this way because I have only been an RN for 5 months. Prior to this I was an LPN for 4 years. My entire nursing career has been in home health and long term care. After seeing the condition of our clients feet, I started searching for teaching material for them, and discovered that I can gain certification and do this full time. My plans are to become certified and work with a podiatrist or several, on a part-time basis for a year or two or until I feel confident enough to do this on my own, and then seek out nursing homes, group homes, etc. If anyone has any advice or would like to share anything with me, I am all eyes:uhoh3: . Thanks

Foot care training
Hello everyone. I am very much interested in starting my own foot care business. I have been told that I do not have enough experience to pursue this. For those of you unable to travel the Medical University of South Carolina has their foot care program on a 4-part dvd. You can purchase it and when you are ready apply to take the certification exam through the wocn. Their web address is www.musc.edu click on continuing education. I have not received it yet, so I can not comment on it. If anyone has taken the certification exam and know of any additional reading material that may be helpful to me, please let me know. I am very excited about this and looking forward to a future in providing foot care. I have read every post regarding foot care and already have lots of ideas. First on my agenda is getting certified. I hope I have helped someone.

Hello Everyone,
I am a new RN, 5 months now . I was an LPN for 3 years prior to this May. I have always worked in home health and long term care. I'm very excited about this site and proud to be a member. At this time, I will exit and move on to a different forum. I desire to be a Certified Foot Care Nurse. I'm looking forward to speaking to other nurses who are doing this. If you know of anyone who can help me please write. Thanks
