So I had a rhinoplasty surgery one month ago..it was a four hour surgery. On the day of surgery, I was told by my nurses to take everything off including my underwear..when i asked why" one of them said I might need a foley catheter ..I told her very firmly that I dont want it..otherwise i dont want to get this surgeryy..Then she went and asked another nurse , came back and said okay if you dont want a foley we won't pass it and you can keep ur underwear on if it's cotton (which it was by the way 90% cotton,10 % elastine)..I again went to the both my nurses n told them very firmly that either to give me diapers and I dont want a foley at any cost , even in emergency. If you'll pass foley after my sleeping, i 'll report it. Both of them said "no need""you wont need it.."In the meanwhile I was given IV n drugs and I dozed off to sleep..In the recovery,, I said to one of the same nurse who was with me in OR that I want to go to bathroomm.she said I'll bring the bedpan..I said no to it..I said i'll go to bathroom later but I font want to use a bedpan..she went to the counter in recovery room and laughed with other nurses that we passed her foley(in,out) 3 times in the surgery and now she's refusing to use bedpan (which I overheard) I feel cheated, violated..I had a burning pain while urinating..I went to my OR nurses to confirm if they passed foley or not in surgery..To which one of them lied very confidently that u were not given enough fluids so we didn't passed foleyy..I asked my doctor after 7 days when I was getting my stitcches removed, n he confirmed that yes we passed (in, out straight foley 3 times during ur surgery n nurses didn't tell us about your wishes..N he apologized... Isnt it unethical. I'm shocked at their behaviour..i think i should report it to the hospital..Atleast doctor was truthful , unlike nurses..
