  1. I worked psych for 25 years, all areas. I quit my job last year because they (powers that be) wanted to get me out so they could hire new nurses. It was the job from hell but it wasn't the patients that bothered me it was the supervision. They were doing cutbacks in staff and wanted to get rid of staff that were top of payscale and experience and hire nurses with less experience and seniority. They reallly didn't care about the patients and because I was always a strong pt advocate, I rubbed the nurse manager the wrong way. Anyway I am retired now and if I can help in anyway let me know,, the first thing to consider is if you like the field your in. Another is how supportive is the other staff you work with. What is their experience. One thing I did not like about nursing school is it is based more on idealism rather than realism.. And it doesn't prepare one for getting thrown to the wolves, as it appears has happened to you....
