Mountain View Spring 2020 application.
If y’all are talking about the rank calculation sheet, you‘ll fill it out together with the program coordinator. You do not receive a copy of it. BTW, just talked to the bookstore manager. The book that the Nursing program added on isn’t anything inexpensive. It’s a $250 book which means that the price quoted to us at success camp will probably rise to an additional $150-200. guesstimated arrive of book packages will be first or second week of Jan.

Anyone on the group FB page? I do not keep a FB but I have a NCLEX study guide that I think would be very helpful for us as we prep for nursing school and the RN licensure exam. If you could PM me an email, I can send the PDF so that someone can upload it on there so anyone that wants it can have access. It also has practice questions w/ rationales.

I won’t be home for a while but I looked it up on amazon. I found it at half priced a while back. This book was extremely useful. I also have the blue dosage calc book from Brookhaven’s dosage calc class but it didn’t help as much as this book. It sounds like it’ll be fast paced for sure. I remember hearing about tutoring for nursing classes but they didn’t elaborate on where those were held. Will def have to find out about those.

I started working on the dosage calculation worksheets today. Maybe sometime next week, a few of us can get together to work on it and talk it through if anyone wants. I have a dosage calc book that is pretty helpful.

? I know! I was hoping they would at least offer pizza or something simple bc there isn’t a lot of restaurant choices in that area. Cold sandwich & veggie snacks will have to do.

Lol great. It sounds like they’re going to want us to purchase the new set of books. So much for saving money on the book package.

I think the camp is mostly to give us all the financial breakdown and the student expectations for the next two years of our lives. Realistically and honestly, they shouldn’t make it rain school fees on us at one time and expect us to pay it all on the same day without any warning. We will probably get order forms/information for our scrubs, classes, liability insurance, test exams, etc as well as the deadline to obtain/pay for these items. lol hopefully anyways. Excited to meet you all.

Soooo I can't post anything that shares possibly copyrighted material nor my own personal information. Just send me a personal message on here and we'll swap emails. I'll send you a link that way.

I think I can post a link to a folder in my Onedrive account and make it available for a little so you can download the PDFs'. Let me make sure that I'm not encroaching on any of the rules on this forum by doing that real quick. lol for real, you can save so much by dipping into the Central Supply room probably. It's so much money bleeding out of our pockets before the start of the semester. Yes, I am pretty sure you will need a stethoscope but that's my own assumption. I bet they will advise on that during success camp. Best thing to do is look on amazon and shop the reviews. I purchased one a while back so that I could get used to using one.

I’m pretty sure it’s all of the skills supplies that we will be using and getting tested on during the skills portions. Different catheters, pads, gauze, NG tubes, etc.

I agree, there’s so many different forms of material that we can use to help supplement our education in this field. It isn’t an absolute requirement to buy expensive learning materials anymore but I understand the need for unified information due to the book specific exams. Although quality learning generally depends on the person in regards to learning material and what works best for themselves personally. I’ve acquired a few books while trying to get a head start on our foundations semester so I was hoping that I only needed a handful of the books on the book list. I‘m going to play it by ear so that I can minimize spending. I bet there will be quite a few times that last minute things will pop up that we will have to pay for during the next 2 years. I have a few versions of the Fundamentals of Success & RN NCLEX Saunders test prep on pdf if anyone wants a copy; for anyone that wants to start working on answering nursing questions early.

Btw, I asked about the book situation. The faculty member that I asked said the exact (isbn # specific) books that are on the booklist are required. She didn’t think that you are strictly required to buy from the bookstore. Something about the book package is supposed to give you a nice discount. I also asked about comparing prices; she said we will probably be able to do so. Typically some professors will allow older versions of the book but idk how strict the nursing professors will be. The bookstore doesn’t have the book package nor do they have the booklist yet. The bookstore said that they do not know when the nursing dept will give them the list either, so just call in periodically. I’m guessing that we will be able to get the book list by success camp...hopefully. ? I wanted to get a head start on the fundamentals book reading with the approved book for MVC.

I went up there earlier to talk to one of the advisors. That’s def the min to pass(75%). I think that goes for most programs in the area.

Yes, personally for me, I thought they were fairly easy taken together. The summer break should be sufficient time to take both classes or break it up between the two years. I like the fact that there’s a break between semesters to absorb the taught information. From what I can understand, you just need heath insurance coverage. We will be practicing under the Professors licensure while in clinical and the school is responsible. I may be wrong. I think there’s a list of different low cost insurances that can be provided from the nursing office but I don’t think any of the programs are through the school itself but separate insurance companies.

The classes are pricey but they do offer payment plans. When I took both classes, we used the book heavily but the teacher didn’t mind if we used an older version. IMO they are fairly easy classes as long as you stayed on top of the rubric for each portion. My Professors were intense on APA and the courses def included a lot of writing.

I looked on a few different forums regarding the writing sample. The confirmation only confirmed appt time; attached was a map & a light warning (if you’re late, you won’t be able to continue onto the interview).

I received a email confirmation last Wednesday. The interview writing sample sounds pretty straight forward. Hopefully I won’t be too nervous when the time comes lol
