  1. I am unsure of your acronyms, I do not know what a TILE position is and I do not know what "E's" are. I am MDS/Care Plan Coordinator at a small LTC facility in Illinois. If you are looking for computer software to make your job easier, I would suggest a company called LTC Solutions. The corporation that I work for uses this company and they have software that follows the MDS. If you have any questions please send me a private message (PM) with your email and I will email you the company name address and a person to contact. I have only been MDS/CPC for past 3 months and I still have tons to learn. You can send your questions along with email addy to my private message box.
  2. I have been in LTC for a short time, I am an "outsider" the facility I work in is 25 miles from my home in the "cities" that's what they they call it, I am working in a rural home, in a small community. From what I have learned in my brief period of employment, I have been there 3 months, is you have to decide what is right for the resident. I have friends, I don't have to be friends with my co-workers, it certainly is a bonus if you do make a friend or two along the way, but the real goal is the resident, and when I see a CNA not doing her job, it is my job as MDS/Care Plan coordinator to make sure our residents are well cared for, and by God they are. We work the same ratio of 15:1 our CNA's bust their butts, and I help answer lights, feed, etc. I say do whatever you can to help the resident.
  3. Hay old RN, you have 9 years on me, and I dont consider myself old. I waout of the profession for past 16 years, I was running the family business, and when the business sold I went back into nursing, mainly because it is the only other thing I can do that pays a descent salary. If you are looking for a challenging career one where you have the opportunity to genuinely care for a person, I would suggest my current career path. I am MDS/Care Plan Coordinator in LTC, and I absolutely love it, I have daily contact with the residents, my assessment skills are honed daily. There is not much physical work involved, occasionally I have to work the floor, and I never mind passing out meal trays or assisting to toilet someone. Don't get me wrong if you are looking for big $$$$$$ LTC is not the answer.
  4. .Your plea for help caught my eye, sugar I have been there, done that, bought that T-shirt, and I will not lie to you none of it was easy. First thing you have to do is get into a treatment program ASAP that is if you have not already done that. Complete your year of aftercare. Join an NA group, and try to stick with it. I was extremely lucky, my employer did not press criminal charges against. However I was probably harder on my self than any court ever would have been. I would be happy to share my experience with you, and try to point you into the right direction, believe me, I know how down you are right now. You have to take some comfort in knowing you are not alone. email me if you like, I would be happy to respond, just having someone else to talk to who understands where you are coming from may just help.
