Yes I got an email today at 12:45 PM saying “Our program is very competitive and unfortunately, your application was not among those selected to enter our program at this time.“

Well I was denied. But that’s okay because I got accepted into Sam Houston last month for the Fall. Best of luck to everyone else!

I just looked at my portal and it’s now showing that I have “no active application”. Anyone else??? Just yesterday it showed I had one. Hope this isn’t a bad thing...

Thanks! And yes the TEAS was SO much harder and more detailed, it threw me off. Sam is a smaller university so I guess they only had enough staff for 65 students, but glad they are moving to the woodlands to accept more.

At the time I applied my stats were: GPA: 3.59 Science: 3.8 Nursing: 3.65 TEAS: 75 They only accepted 65 students then and I was 10th on the waitlist. I believe that my TEAS is what kept me out bc it's pretty low, I didn't have time to retake it. But now they accept more people so if you have around the same stats then I bet you will get in first try. I got into UTH for the summer with the same stats so it worked out for the better

I go to Sam Houston currently and applied for their nursing program for Spring 18 but was waitlisted and they do have a points system for deciding who gets in. Good GPA's or TEAS scores gets you points, or if you go to the school you get more points, etc etc. They are moving to the woodlands and I believe they are now accepting 120 students per application period. Its a great school but I've heard its disorganized.

I GOT IN!!! Im so over the moon rn. My last name starts with an S and got the email at 4:14 GPA: 3.59 Nursing GPA: 3.7 Science GPA: 3.8 Hesi: 87 overall, my lowest score was an 82 on math Congrats to everyone else! and I'm sure there will be more acceptances going out soon, hang in there!

What email did it come from, and it was on your personal email? I've been trying to figure it out so I don't miss the email

I applied to UTMB fall as well. My stats are: Overall GPA: 3.6 Science GPA: 3.8 Pre-nursing GPA: 3.7 TEAS: 75 overall (I know that sucks but i didn't have time to retake it before the deadline) I'm thinking my TEAS score may bring my chances way down even though my gpa is good. I haven't received any emails yet and MyStar has not changed either. Could y'all tell me what email address these emails are being sent by? I want to make sure I don't miss it since I get a lot of junk email on my personal one!! Thanks

My last name starts with an S, so ill be one of the last to know. Also last year they found out on Friday so hopefully tomorrow! So nervous, when i get an email it'll take me like 15 minutes to even open it lol

From last summers forum, they heard around the 24th of February so only 2 more weeks! So nervous to find out, hope I get in summer since idk if I would in the Fall but will still apply if I don't get summer.

I go to Sam Houston and they have a gpa calculator for pre-nursing classes. All the classes are the same except for college algebra but that could count as an elective. Also if you just enter the four science classes at the top, that is your science gpa. Pre-Nursing GPA Calculator

For the science GPA, that includes anatomy, physiology, micro, and chemistry right? Also the pre nursing gpa is all the classes they have on their website for pre requisites? Just making sure I am calculating this right.

I know they base it solely off your grades and a computer probably ranks people for them. But I have a competitive GPA, my TEAS was not but I tried my best. It upsets me because I know one of my friends who got in has the same GPA as me with only 2 points higher on the TEAS and they got in. Also they are taking 4 pre-reqs right now which seems like a lot so idk

I almost feel like most people who get accepted do deserve it, but also its just a luck of the draw. I don't think they take the time to look at it enough, bc they only took about 15 days to review 260 applications and send out acceptance letters to some? Doesn't seem like enough time to me.

Yeah I have a 3.5 GPA but I think I didn't get in bc my TEAS score wasn't very good. I got a 76 overall, 90 in math and 78 in reading. I'm not good at standardized tests lol. But glad that I'm at least an alternate

So I was chosen as an alternate:( but hopefully I'm high up on the list and enough people will deny their acceptance. Does anybody know the likelihood or the average people who are accepted as an alternate?

More acceptance letters? Their whole process is confusing. Like I mentioned it says on the website that you have to accept by tomorrow by 5pm so idk how more letters are being sent this week. Unless its waitlist or denial letters. Maybe they will extend the deadline, not sure.

How did they confirm that they only accept 30 in the spring? Or how did you find out, is it online?

I believe they will all be sent by Monday, because it says on the Newly admitted students page that you have to accept the invitation by the 19th (Tuesday) by 5pm

OMG thank you for calling and asking that. It makes me feel a lot better. I wish they had a method of choosing that is more easily understood, like going by last name or something. But hopefully I get good news on Monday!

Your stats are awesome! Thanks for sharing, trying to stay optimistic. My friend got accepted already and she's taking 4 pre reqs right now so tbh doesn't make sense why I wouldn't too. Our GPA is the same. Waiting for Monday!
