Hi all, just an update since a lot has happened since my original post on Aug. 23. I did my interview on Sep. 28, but noticed that the subject line said "Spring 2018 Waitlist Invitation for Interview". This was interesting since I was never notified of being on the waitlist, so I assumed that after so much time, I would probably get denied but just haven't been notified yet. After my in-person interview, my interviewer said I should be receiving an answer in about 4-6 weeks, so I'm giving until the end of October. I think it went extremely well and was told "if it was up to him, he'd say 'Welcome Aboard'." So I left feeling confident, but I also know that the decision will need to be a collective one by the Admissions Committee after they receive the interview evaluation. I'm sharing this to let those who are still waiting that there could still be hope, so don't give up. I would also like to share that I've already been admitted to the Accelerated nursing programs with the University of Miami, Baylor University, and Texas Woman's University (TWU). All great schools, including UTMB, but I think if UTMB accepts me -- my top two contenders will be them and the University of Miami. Both are strong candidates with high NCLEX pass rates and highly competitive between 38-43% acceptance rates. But since I am also considering a Master's nursing program after hopefully completing my BSN successfully, I did notice the 2017/18 U.S. News Report rankings for "Best Nursing Schools: Master's" -- University of Miami (#38); Baylor University (#56); UTMB (#73); TWU (#88)... UT HSC Houston (#23), but I already received a denial from them, so that's just an FYI for you guys. It will be a tough call for me between UM and UTMB, assuming I get accepted to UTMB. One of the biggest factors will be the pricetag with UTMB being so much more affordable. But Miami is... Miami! Whatever happens, I'll keep you guys posted for whoever might be interested -- especially for those waiting on spots to open up.
