Hello, I am a pre-nursing student at OC. To give everyone a little bit of background, it has been a long and slow process for me...I dropped out of HS and got my GED young (17). I am now 26 and a working mother, so I haven't been able to manage a full course load most of the time. I am now finally getting ready to start A&P I. I passed both CHEM 121 and 131 with the minimum required grades (OUCH, I know ) of 2.0...separated from my kid's dad, moved, and started a new job all during those classes. To anyone who has gotten in going straight for the ADN-any updated info on just how competitive it is? All threads I can find are fairly old, and I know just in the last year prereq requirements changed at OC; this being the reason I decided against going the LPN route first. The prerequisites are now essentially the same. Do you think if I get 4.0's (or close to them) from here on out, (in BIO 241, 242, 260 {Micro}), plus throw in extra factoring points for doing Dosage Calc, ENG 102 and Pharmacology before applying, I stand a chance of getting in my first year? I have already attended an info session, met with my advisor, and taken the Reading Comp. section of my accuplacer ( I scored 20/20). I am going for as many points as I can get, but don't want to stretch myself too thin at the expense of my GPA. I'm not a 4.0, but I'm over a 3 right now and from here on out I only plan to bring it up Any advice/tips would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)
