  1. Hi thanks for your reply. From my understanding an expunged arrest will still show on a fingerprint background check so I will have to disclose it to the Board which means I will have to write an explanation letter. I know honesty is key with the board and the honest truth is the arrest resulted from an addiction which has since been treated which I can show with my years of recovery.
  2. Thanks for your reply. Do you know how long they are required to attend these weekly meetings?
  3. Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on applying for a license with 5 1/2 years of recovery. I will be able to provide the board of nursing will all of the required paperwork including a letter of explanation from myself, a letter from my sponsor and up to ten letters of recommendations from previous and current employers, members of volunteer organizations and other mentors. I will also be including the required paperwork and letter of explanation for an expunged misdemeanor from 6 years that was a result of my life before recovery. I am wondering what the chances are of having my license approved without any restrictions? Can anyone share their experience with this? I have worked hard to change my life and am looking for some hope that achieving my dream of becoming a nurse will not be impossible! Thank you
  4. Thanks for sharing! I will be applying spring of next year for licensure. I will have a 6 year old misdemeanor and another arrest with dropped charges. I am applying to get both expunged. I was wondering what types of court documents you had to submit and how you went about obtaining them? thanks
  5. Thank you for sharing this!! I was wondering how long your letters of recommendation were and how many you included? I will need to do this when I apply and was wondering how many people I should ask to write on my behalf? Thank you!
  6. Thank you for your response! I have been looking to find someone who has been through a similar situation to know that it is possible. If you don't mind sharing did you have to submit additional documents in addition to your letter you wrote (references, court documents, etc.)
  7. I am looking for some advice on expunging an arrest from my record. I am a current nursing school student with 2 years of school left. I have an arrest on my record from 2013 in which all charges were dropped. With a lawyer I can work to have this arrest expunged. I understand I will still need to disclose this information to the BON once I have completed school, however I am wondering if getting it expunged will help my case come time to apply for licensure? Thanks for any imput, Katie
  8. Hi I am looking for those who have experience with applying for a nursing license with a criminal record to share their experience on what it took to receive your license. I will be applying for mine with a 6 year old misdemeanor drug paraphernalia reduced to littering and one 6 year old felony arrest in which all charges were dropped and there was no conviction. I have read the Board of Nursing's Q&A on this topic but am looking to hear some success stories from other nurses. Thank you!
