  1. When did you submit your application, and when did you receive the email?
  2. Thank you for your kind words. I sure will take your advice into consideration for the next cycle!
  3. What did your profile look like?
  4. Just recieved rejection letter from Lakehead university.?? That was my last resort. I'm so sad and wondering if it will make any difference to even reapply next year. I feel like I gave it my all. Anyways, goodluck to anyone who is still waiting and congrats to people who got accepted. I hope you make terrific NPs!?
  5. If this makes you feel better, I applied in December and I have not heard from them either.
  6. Talks of NPs billing OHIP directly? Sounds interesting to prospective NPs.
  7. Here's to hoping you get in.
  8. Mine still says "Under Department Review".
  9. Is this for Lakehead U or Laurentian U? If Lakehead, mine says "Under Department Review". I wonder how that differs from "Sent to Department" ? Fingers crossed. Applied to 3 schools and haven't recieved any offers.
  10. A friend got admitted few days ago. I emailed them to ask when they will be sending out more offers, and this was the response I received: "The majority of the first round of offers have gone out this week, so if you didn't receive one, you're currently on a waitlist. You should get an update in the next 3-4 weeks as to whether you receive an offer or not."?
  11. Is it safe to say UofT is done sending out offers? ? I want to know when to count my losses and start my healing process ?
  12. Did anyone apply to Lakehead University?
  13. To think that this was you last week. ?? So happy for you! Congratulations!!
  14. Hopefully we get an update next week. Did you do your undergrad there?
  15. Thats what I think too.
  16. Same here. I'm so discouraged.?
  17. The waiting game ?
  18. Applied to LU and UofT.
  19. I don't imagine any school would have gotten back to applicants at this time. Let's hope in March.
  20. Very true. I've taken my time to research NP schools that meet my needs, so hopefully, I should be fine. I guess both professions do have their pros and cons. I plan to shadow the NP at my organization to get a better sense of their day-to-day. Will make a decision afterwards. Thanks for your response!
  21. Are you applying to only 1 school?
  22. Has anyone here been in my shoes before or known someone who has? I'm an internationally trained optometrist who came to Canada 7 years ago. I had challenges obtaining a license to practice, so I decided to pivot. I did a 2.5-year accelerated BScN with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner later on. After graduating from nursing school, I got a job working in diabetes eye care in the community, which is somewhat similar to what I did as an optometrist but with half the pay. This role has made me realize how much I miss being an optometrist. I'm now eligible to apply to NP school and have started the application process. However, it's been weighing heavily on my mind to consider re-licensing for optometry. On one hand, I like the more comprehensive/versatile nature of the NP role, but on the other hand, I like the independence and the level of autonomy optometry offers. Also, optometrists do seem to have lower liability issues and higher pay compared to NPs, but the relicensing process is so daunting, and you never know if you will ever be successful. I hate uncertainties, and I don't want to waste time chasing shadows. I know NP school is tedious and insane, but I generally tend to do well under structured learning and know I will be successful and start practicing in 3 years. The cost for both the NP Program and relicensing for optometry are almost the same. Not sure what I need on here; I guess I'm just looking to see if there is anyone in my shoes before and how they navigated this. Is there anything I might not be considering that should sway me either way? Thoughts? Prayers? LOL
  23. What schools are y'all applying to?
