Please Help Me!
Thank you, everyone. It was a precarious and sudden situation earlier today because the goal was previously stabilization (invasive procedures), but it has now become comfort care and he is in the process of changing rooms. Although it was frustrating at first, it was actually a good idea rotating 3 people- as a family, we were able to support each other in the waiting room and then take our turns in the ICU room, where fewer people fostered a more personal goodbye from all of us. Thank you again for your kindness, this is really a great community. Also, I want to give a big thank you to all the ICU/hospice nurses out there, you have exemplified compassionate nursing to my entire family for the past few days.

Please Help Me!
A family member is terminally ill and comatose in the ICU. The nurse is limiting 3 visitors to the room. Since we have around 7 people in our family, this is causing so much unnecessary sadness. The past three days we could have an unlimited amount of visitors and we also were given no warning for this rule today, it's not even hospital policy, it's just the nurses "discretion". What should I do? Please help

Applying to NP Programs Senior Year
Shibaowner and direw0lf, thank you, so much. Your advice is a breath of fresh air amidst, what seems to be, the majority of allnurses. All of the programs I am applying to do not require RN experience. My only concern is that the programs may perceive accepting to be a "risk" since I will not take the NCLEX until April; if I fail, it may be too late for the school to fill my seat, thereby reducing the schools' enrollement, yield, and funding. Thankfully, however, this route does appear very feasible, and I agree, w0lf, it seems more schools are now welcoming this path, especially top programs. Finally, w0lf, can you PM me? I tried, but don't know how.

Applying to NP Programs Senior Year
Thank you for your reply, and I sincerely do value your suggestion. I want to mention there are many anecdotal stories regarding people applying and getting accepted their senior year. However, finding guidance on this is more difficult than these stories. There are also studies that have shown "prior RN experience was neither a promoter nor inhibitor of NP role transition." (Exploring the Factors that Influence Nurse Practitioner Role Transition) Furthermore, there are many direct entry programs that provide somebody, with minimal or no healthcare experience, a BSN and NP degree in three years. Since I have 3 years of healthcare and relevant work experience in traditional a BSN program, it is a little upsetting that many nurses discourage people, like myself, who have comparatively more relevant experience from pursuing higher education, yet those in direct entry programs are given a pass in this regard.

Applying to NP Programs Senior Year
Hi everyone, I will be a senior in a BSN program this fall. I also intend on applying to PMHNP programs this fall. I have a great GPA, GRE, relevant experience, letters of rec, statement of purpose, but I was just curious if any of you know if applying prior to graduation and taking the NCLEX will seriously jeopardize my chances of admission. Also, should I apply as soon as the application opens during the fall, or wait until winter recess? If any of you have any insight, suggestions, or personal experiences I would love to hear them.
