  1. I have pestered him and even had to go above him. Recently he told me he is "on the way out" so I am sure that has a lot to do with it...
  2. I am currently applying to go active in the Air Force as a nurse. I am curious about anyone's experience with needing a medical waiver. My recruiter told me that I was not PDC (permanently disqualified) which he said is a good sign however, they need a waiver due to the fact that I was in an accident in 2004 and because of my medication allergies (Penicillin, Vicodin and Z-pack). He said it can take "up to 2 months" for this waiver. I am just looking for any information that anyone may have that may have gone through this process. I have not had the best experience with this whole process. My recruiter has dropped the ball on a lot of things as well as not followed through on things and also not been honest a lot of the time with me. That being said, I don't feel like I can completely trust him. Thank you for any feedback.

I am interested in taking the TCRN. I want to do this by the end of Feb 2018. I have looked for review courses around me and there are none between now and then. That being said, for anyone who has taken TCRN how did you study? What did you use? I see the BCEN has an outline of material just looking for study ideas.
  4. What area of nursing did you interview for? Do you feel like it went well? I didn't think we got to know the results of the interview, were you told that we would find out?
  5. Hey, Thanks or any input on COT. A few questions since I am finishing up my process of trying to commission. I was told by my recruiter that benefits and pay start on day 1 of COT, is this not true? I don't know many people that can afford to live without pay, I will still have a mortgage and bills if my home does not sell. :-/ Also as far as PT standards... is it still 1 1/2 miles run in under 15 min? and I read somewhere 40 push ups in a minute? Can you verify the requirements? My recruiter always gives vague answers and I'm a need to know, need to be prepared kind of person. Thanks
  6. Thank you so much for the heads up. My recruiter said he is going to contact me today (we shall see, he's not the most on top of things) for us to "prep"
  7. Thanks for the ideas about questions. I don't even know where to begin with questions. I'm sure I have a lot since I'd be transitioning from civilian life to military life with a family and all
  8. That is where mine is. Thanks for the info. I have never been this nervous for any of my other nursing interviews.
  9. Hey All, I just got word that my interview with the CNO is next week here in NC. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or could give me insight on how it might go or what I should prepare for? My recruiter is not the most helpful person or easiest to speak with. I am an experienced ER nurse with 4 years experience in the ED and 1 year in PICU and I am trying to commission in to the AF, hopefully at the November board. Thanks in advance
  10. I am interested in commissioning into the AF as an RN (hoping for the November 2017 board). I have written a previous post to ask questions about the process however I am wondering is it normal to have such a difficult time communicating with the recruiter? I am in the Carolina's and I have a hard time getting information from the recruiter I have. Often times when communicating (most successfully through text) the conversation just stops in the middle of us conversing, like the recruiter fell off the face of the earth. Emails often are never returned. I have given the recruiter EVERYTHING asked of me. I know there is a lot of time between now and October, which is when he said things need to be turned in, however I am nervous that things won't get pushed through. Should I be nervous? Is this usually how things are? Thanks for any info!
  11. Since you have commissioned fairly recently, how was the interview? My recruiter said in a meeting last week its "very casual" and even to dress casually. I found that kind of odd, but he knows more than me. I have just never considered interviews as "casual" or dressed casually. I usually dress professionally and take it pretty serious.
  12. If you do not mind me asking what they DQ'd you for & how recent it was? My recruiter said he thinks I am going to be ok (I had a recent physical and passed with flying colors all labs and everything and I even had my doc write a letter recommending that she felt I was ok to join the AF). Trying to get a feel for MEPS but my recruiter says it all depends on which way the wind is blowing.
  13. So were you a flight nurse before you commissioned as one? I have almost 5 years of experience (ER & ICU) no experience flying
  14. Did you go into the AF or work your way toward flight nursing? That is my end goal. Just wondering how the AF works with that.
  15. I am serious about the military, there just has not been a real motivator in my civilian life to take the test. There are surrounding hospitals that offer $1k bonuses and reimbursement for passing but my employer does not offer anything like that. I am thinking maybe in August or September about taking it. Also, I do not have to have my phone with me every second but would like to speak with my family in the evenings so I think as long as I can do that I would be ok. I did not realize that was not the bottom, thanks for pointing that out.
