  1. Will do. Likewise. Do u have Facebook? I'm never really on this one. Lol.
  2. I believe all the units are moving at different speeds. Perinatal is the furthest along it would seem. They are the only unit that I have seen to be making offers but these are just verbal. Haven't seen anything in writing yet and everybody knows nothing is official until you get it in writing. LOL. I had a friend who interviewed with the MICU last week and they told her the same thing "before the Holidays" so hang in there.
  3. So sorry rnsearch I am just now logging in to see this! I read ahead though and it sounds like you didn't need the advice after all! Congratulations! Looks like we'll be working together! I got a verbal offer on the 12th! Do you know when we should expect the written one?
  4. I got a second interview with L&D tomorrow! Any insight on what to expect in the second interview? Will it be more clinical based than the first?
  5. You are welcome! And yes it still is a great opportunity! You can make the most of it and the money is probably the most you can make without being an RN yet! It will expose you to a lot. They do tend to use us as sitters most often but not always. Any other questions just ask.
  6. Hi kk80, When you are hired on you are hired into the float pool. This means that you are sent wherever there is need in the hospital and it literally could be a different unit every time you go. This does provide you with a broad view of many different units which is a good thing but you don't really get a chance to develop a rapport with any of the units especially if you are still a student. Also if you have a unit that you want to specialize you may get sent there often or not at all depending on hospital need. It has not been my experience that ACCP are preferred when it comes to new grad hiring. Usually it is people who have done several rotations or precepted there. For that reason I believe the summer externship would be a better move. If you are assigned to a unit and do a great job they practically hand pick you to come work there when you graduate. Good Luck!
  7. It's possible to get by. You're young and single. You can find a nice studio and keep your costs low. Live like a student for the next year. You should be able to get some saving done as well if you're conservative. I know ppl living on less in L.A. and not in poverty either. So yes it is possible. That figure does seem low for socal though. I'm a new grad as well and I work as a care partner(which is like a cna)for UCLA and with differential I'm making close to that. You went to nursing school so you deserve more! Take it but keep looking!í ½í¸Š
  8. I am sure you do plenty of good when you are with your patients. It is clear that you want to do better and so you will continue to improve. I for one am thankful for this post because it is giving me a reality check. I graduate in 6 weeks and I am terrified. I know I am going to have plenty of nights like the one you just had but it's part of the seasoning that makes you a better nurse. I think all experienced nurses have stories like this in their early careers. It is ok. You already have pinpointed your mistake and I bet you never make that one again. I don't know you but I am proud of you. Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable. Nursing is hard. Just take it one day at a time. You wouldn't be where you are if you weren't qualified to be. Take comfort in that.
  9. Hi Everyone! I am in my last semester of a bsn program and currently working part time as an ACCP for UCLA RR. I originally took the position because it is my dream to be hired there as a full time RN and I thought starting now would help get my foot in the door. But I have heard rumors that the don't hire many of their internal CCPs into the new grad rn program. Anyone have additional info please weigh in. Thanks.😊
