What is the normal length of time it takes a person to take the CNA cert exam (and pass) in the state of Texas? Please help me set expectations. Is the exam really difficult? Here is my situation - as of today, I don't have any experience in the medical field. Although, I am majoring in Allied Health (undergrad). I plan to take the CNA course at Kilgore College this summer. I will be eligible to take the state exam after completing the class. I would like to take the exam after the CNA course ends. Is this realistic? Do I need to work as a CNA for a time period before I can take the exam? Thank you.

Howdy! everyone. I'm a college student in Texas, majoring in Allied Health. I'm getting ready to take a class at the red cross in TX (CPR/First Aid). Then I'm going to take a CNA course over the summer (Kilgore College). IN the fall I will return to school to keep working on my undergrad degree. I was thinking of transferring to a BSN nursing program, but that would mean I would have to leave my current school. I know I won't get into TAMU's nursing program. Ther are only 25 -30 spots available. I don't have a 6.0 GPA. So again, I will complete the undergrad at TAMU, then apply for a nursing program, perhaps UT in Austin. In the meantime, I want to get started with learning medical stuff, working with patients, using my body, and helping people. After the CNA training over the summer 2018 and passing the state exam, I would like to work part time as a CNA while in school. Does anyone know of any intense pre-nursing programs or CNA program I can sign up for after I complete the CNA training? Maybe I will sign up for volunteer work overseas during the summer. Are there any intense first training programs? Thank you for your feedback.
