PCT Med/Surg Ortho floor FT nights vs CNA LTC FT nights
I actually thought about working PRN and one of my friend/co worker was trying to convince me to try PRN. He does works PRN and Full time at his other job. But I still don't know how I feel about PRN. I'm 19 and live with my parents so they definitely refuse. They just want me to work at this new job and that's all. But most of my coworkers loved working night shift at the hospital which I was shocked EVERYONE loved working in the hospital. Also I start tomorrow, and it's only 3 days of orientation (Mon-Wed)... I have the full detailed schedule of what we are doing and I hope I get some training like you did.

PCT Med/Surg Ortho floor FT nights vs CNA LTC FT nights
Thank you so much! Yes, like there's times I want to work at the hospital because shorter days. I work 11-7 5 days a week but my day off schedule is even worse than the other CNAs, it can be exhausting. But there's time I just want to stay here because I love all my night shift CNAs and nurses but I know I don't want to spend my whole life working in the nursing home. I'm starting my orientation on January 8th and I just hope everything goes well. Do you get training after orientation? I had training where I work at for 3 days and it wasn't enough for me, I'm honestly a slow learner since I found out I have a learning disability. So it took me about 2-3 weeks to figure out how to do everything correctly (this is my first job). So that's part of what is overwhelming me as well.

PCT Med/Surg Ortho floor FT nights vs CNA LTC FT nights
I had to find a new job nearby my new house. Where I live now to my current job is almost an hour drive. I was shocked I even got this new job. I am So used to my current job that I'm scared over the changes but I will have to do that in the future either way. I also want to become a Pediatric RN. I've been trying to find pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, Neonatal, etc.. any background experience when I become a Nurse, I'm still searching. I'm lucky this hospital have some of these units. But yes, I have always wanted to know how the hospital working environment is to prepare me for Nursing as well.

PCT Med/Surg Ortho floor FT nights vs CNA LTC FT nights
I got accepted at a hospital, this is my first job at a hospital! I'm seriously nervous because I've been working at a LTC facility as a CNA for only 3 months and that is my current first job experience as a CNA and first job in general. I just want to know what is Med/Surg Ortho like in night shift? Do you like working at the hospital more than a nursing home? Is it more stressful? Pros or cons? I'm really scared of the whole atmosphere and I'm already used to the job I have now and the whole environment. Any advices or tips as a PCT?

SOS, I am suspended for something that should be the facility fault, not me.
What if they make me sign something about this suspension? Should I not sign anything? My license still says it's clear.

You are right, well I just turned in my references at a hospital and might start at December 11th. This hasn't been the first time that I've been getting blame of and everything else. Everyone is friends with each other, none our my age. I'm 19 and there's only one CNA who's in my age range but I get along. It's like my night shift workers don't have any problem with me but when it comes to AM they have several. But thank you!

I got suspended during my probabation period (Nov. 30th will be my 3rd month working here), do you think I will get fired? The DON called me to speak to the administrators. This whole situation is not even my fault at all and this resident isn't even my resident and should've been supervised by the workers. I also got a call to report everything to the admin, which I did on Saturday. This is my first job in general. I am a CNA and I just feel like I'm just putting in for blame. I'm really nervous that this meeting, I am going to get fired. One of my nurses said, if you do get fired that I should talk to corporate about this because it is unfair.

First job... I can’t take it anymore. I feel like I’m being bully and out of place.
Yes, I know this will happen anywhere and I will still stay working here until I find another job. I've been dealing with it since I started working there and have not quit or anything like that. I just do my job and the nurse was there, you can hear them easily. I just don't understand why the AM shift have to complain about me and now the Nurse when none of my night shift staff complain at all of what I do. I just hope I don't get fired or suspended because of what I got reported for and only I got reported. I try to avoid the AM as much as I can, I'm just doing my night job and that's all that matters.

First job... I can’t take it anymore. I feel like I’m being bully and out of place.
I don't know which category to put this so I put it on Nursing Career Advice. I am a LTC CNA in night shift at Adventist Health System. I just graduated from high school and got my CNA license in May. This is my first job experience. Anyways, MANY THINGS happen at this job. In the beginning when it was my 3rd week of working here, the Human Resource who takes care of PayRoll, did not pay me correctly. I called the HR about it and she said she would look over it and SHE NEVER DID. I called her again about it and she said the same exact thing. My pay stub was incorrect. So, I emailed the DON about it because she interviewed me and told me how much I am suppose to be pay. I told her about my pay stub sent her pictures of it with my calculations and she did not say a thing about it. I mean I know this happens a lot everywhere and I believe they use teenagers and people who never had a job before advantage. I am now 19. After that, I've been getting SO MANY complaints from the AM shift about the way I take care of residents when no residents ever complain about me and my night shift nurse who I work with never ever complain about me. I do my job, I chart everything and report it to the nurse. But my night nurse did mention that the 2 AM CNAs always find something to complain about. I was almost close to getting reported but my resident told the AM CNA to not to because I take good care of my residents, I cannot thank her enough about that. Their complaints are about little things like I forgot to throw away 2 water cups out of 20 residents I do all by myself because night shift are short in staff. Everything I do is completely wrong to them. Then today, a Nurse who I do not even know come up to me YELLING at me about the laundry bags how they are untie, but only at me. I stayed completely professional. She was yelling about the states are coming and we always get notify when they are coming so we can be prepared and the DON will let us know, she will come in at 5 AM to check everything. So, I never heard anything about them coming and they mostly come during the day not nights. Last Friday, the DON came to talk about how we are being more strict of infection control because of the states (pretty much the people who can close down the place.) she only mention about throwing soiled linens without a bag and overflowing trash bags that we cannot do anything about. She never ever mention anything else but that. I've been working almost two months and now that is the problem. The Nurse reported me because of the untying laundry bags and she did say she's going to report all the CNAs who was working but she never did. She only reported me. I was busy taking care of my resident while this is happening. Then, the AM CNAs come in and was complaining about me to her which made it worse. They were talking about me in front of residents very loud and clear that my resident whose door is completely close and the AC is on which makes noises, HEARD EVERYTHING that they were saying. That she was concern and ask me what is wrong and why did she talk about me. They were disturbing residents. I honestly don't know what to do, I am scared that I might get fired or license suspended, this is my first job and I'm currently looking for another one because I'm moving but I really need this job because I'm also paying for college and bills. I do not know what to do at all. Also, are you allow to talk or complain about another employee to employees in front of patients/residents or in a public area??

SOS! What do you bring and what do you do during CNA orientation?
Today, I went there to sign employment papers such as background check, drug test, TB, etc. which I have done all of those last year. All the shots I needed was done last year for my PCA class. She did mention to dress business casual and to bring lunch. I will definitely bring a notepad to jot down notes, thank you!

The New IPad Pro or the new Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) for nursing students?
Since they are pricey and I wasn't sure about the IPad for college requirements. I bought the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series 2-in-1 laptop with windows active ink pen (Bamboo pen) and I'm so happy with it. EXACTLY like the Surface. I got it for $529 because of student discount and dell sale going on that day. It was amazing for the price and have pretty much all the requirements for college and nursing. Here's the link if you're interested, https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-2-in-1-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-gray/5606500.p?skuId=5606500 doesn't make any noise. The only con is it's pretty heavy almost 5 pounds for a laptop.

The New IPad Pro or the new Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) for nursing students?
I'm buying a new laptop/tablet this weekend for college (tax free weekend!) I'm siding on the New Microsoft Surface Pro because everyone loves it and I even see Surface Pros on Grey's Anatomy like c'mon. But I also like the new IPad Pro it almost seem similar to the new surface but the IPad Pro is way cheaper (also I have an IPhone 7) than the Surface Pro. If I do buy the surface pro the only one I can afford is the intel core m3? I love annotating, highlighting, taking notes online, always type essays online, etc. I want something extremely useful for college and in the future when I work as a nurse.

Expensive stethoscope for student?
Lucky!! Don't worry what people think. When you search up expensive stethoscope, Littman comes up. They are amazing, it's good to purchase a great stethoscope because you won't have to worry about buying another one when you start working. My RNs love it so much and I even tested it. It's their babies. Make sure you always have it with you!
