Clinicals w/a misdemeanor DUI?
It did show up on my background check for school and they had me sign a waiver that states that i might not be able to attend any clinical site because you know each site has its own rules =/

Clinicals w/a misdemeanor DUI?
Hello all!! I have searched this topic and haven't found anything. I have an old DUI from 2012, I have completed all classes and even probation and have had no incidents, not even traffic tickets, since then. I am due to start LVN school July 3rd and upon running my background, my school had me sign a waiver that states that based on my background check I have things on there that might prevent me from being able to attend clinicals which means that if I cannot attend clinicals I do not complete the program and therefore do no graduate or take NCLEX. I am going to hire an attorney to have this expunged and I know it takes a few months to have everything cleared out. My question is are clinical sites super strict with these types of charges? Should I go ahead and start the program and hopefully my conviction is expunged by the time we start clinicals? or should I revoke from the school and wait until everything is cleared? I live in CA by the way. Anyone out there with a similar experience and with a good outcome? Help!

LPN vs MA
Hello there. I am a Certified Medical Assistant and have been since around 2006. I say go for LVN/LPN! Even if where you currently live there isnt a high demand, if you ever move out of the state it might be different. Here in CA there is a high demand for LVNs and RNs. I am currently waiting to start my LVN/LPN program and I know that it will be easier to obtain my RN license by being and LVN first. Medical Assistant is ok if you want to be confined to Dr's offices and what not and here in CA we can earn as much as $28/hr but if you want to be able to work clinics/hospitals/convalescent homes the LVN is the way.

2018-2019 Student LPN Roll Call
Hello all future nurses!!! I am scheduled to begin the LVN program July 3rd, I passed my entrance exams in the 90%'s on the first try. I am nervous and excited. I work full time but my work allows employees take off 4 hours early per week if we need to for school (paid time away by the way) so I will be working 36hrs/week and school part time. I also have 3 kids and a husband =S I'm nervous but I have put off my education long enough and right now is the perfect time to pick up where I left off. Good luck to everyone who just began and to those of us who are soon starting! BTW I am currently working as a Certified Medical Assistant and have been in the field since 2006.. hopefully all of my hands-on and exposure to the field help me get through school !!!
