  1. That's what they told us too for the fall 2017 applicants but we found out at the end of May
  2. The honors program is actually only for current students, you can't apply until after your second semester
  3. There's no interview process
  4. There was mandatory orientation yeah! But I think they use the word mandatory loosely lol
  5. Last Fall we got our acceptances at the end of May!
  6. From the previous page: "I spoke to JoAnn Mendoza, she said that if you are waitlisted, UTH can let you know up to two weeks before the semester starts (May 21) if you are accepted or denied admission. She also mentioned that if you reapply you don't have to take your name off of the waitinglist and you don't have to resubmit transcripts and HESI scores because they hold them for a year. Hope this helps."
  7. Thats mostly because of other students who last minute cannot or chose not to attend, not because of the school though
  8. I replied to this last night but I guess it didn't post. Those who get chosen off the waitlist is solely based on the amount of people who decline their spot out of those who have already been accepted. I have no clue how many were waitlisted and made it through but there were some. Total they typically accept 120/130 out of the 1200 who apply so it's very competitive
  9. I dont think it disqualifies you but I know they will not accept any scores after the 2nd one you took and im 90% sure they look at the most recent of those 2 even if you did better the first time. Im actually a current student at UTH so if yall have any questions feel free to ask!
  10. Hey guys, I am a current UTH student so I wanted to give some insight. While I know this is probably the most anxious you've ever been (trust me I totally get it), keep in mind that there are usually over 1200 applicants. It is going to take a little while to get back to everyone, just be patient and remember that everything happens for a reason and there are many people who apply more than once and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. On another note, if yall have any questions feel free to ask. Always happy to help!
  11. Okay so I've totally wondered the same thing because I'm engaged and I mean pregnancy seems to be something that is NEVER planned lol. First thing I'll say is that it is very common for some people to take more than 4 semesters to complete the program. I'm not 100% on this but someone said they weren't sure if you could do clinicals if are pregnant (I'm not even sure this is true honestly that would have to be asked) but my guess would be that if you did become pregnant you could take all the lectures as normal and maybe towards the end you would have to push off clinical for 1 semester and take it the next? Possibly? I haven't actually heard anything about this but I've wondered. However TWU doesn't work through the summers right? So you would finish at UTH much sooner than at TWU if that helps with any decision making
  12. I mean I'm only a first semester student but I completely disagree with everything that's been said. I know admissions staff isn't the friendliest but our professors are AMAZING. The admissions staff and more of the "other" faculty are always kinda like that it's super annoying. BUT the teacher and the ones who are there to actually coach you and help you learn are incredible. There are so many people and resources provided for you to succeed and there's a huge tutoring program and everything to help anyone having trouble. I have never felt that the faculty doesn't want me to succeed. It is so much better with your actual education, the other staff though is just not the nicest. Financial aid though seems to be nice if you get the right person. But I've definitely never felt like I'm in a sink or swim situation. I have noticed that the ones that complain are the ones who don't try as hard and get mad because things aren't going their way. It's an extremely difficult program and there are so many good things about it. But they are both amazing schools. From this point out y'all need to make sure you're taking everything that you hear with a grain of salt because it is always a different experience depending on who you talk to and how they did themselves. But everyone I have talked to above me before I even started had so so so many good things to say and I have yet to be proven otherwise
  13. Whenever you take the test at Lonestar you get to choose what sections you take. And I've heard it's cheaper than pro metric. If I remember right it was like $30 when I took it
  14. All of the holds that y'all are talking about are what you need to complete before registering for classes! Keep an eye on the residency questionnaire, I ended up having to resubmit it because they I guess never got the email. I just assumed it was cause I did it too early and they probably lost track of it
  15. There will probably be another wave tomorrow honestly. But they also send out a waitlist top Before they send out the denials typically. The denials will probably come in about a week or so
  16. Pretty soon after the acceptances started coming out my class made a Facebook group page and that's where a lot of people will talk about rooming together and about everything y'all will have coming. Also where you can get advice from upperclassman about what to do upcoming and what not to do (buy) lol. Just an idea if anyone wanted to start one!
  17. Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted so far! Y'all will love it! Don't freak out if you haven't gotten anything yet, the acceptances come in waves usually over the next few days!!
  18. Thank you! And it's not as crazy as it sounds. It's pretry okay to manage, it's literally all about time management
  19. Yeah sure! HESI: 91 GPA:3.6 Science GPA: 3.75 Honestly idk what exactly they look at cause there was people who had just the same or better than I have and they didn't get in so who knows. But my typical week for this semester Monday: Health Assessment 8-9 and then there's multiple labs so it can start at either 9:15, 11:30 or 1:45. Tuesday: Adult Health Care I: 8-12 Wednesday: Pharm: 8-12 & Patho: 1-4 For the first 5 or so weeks, you'll have adult Care lab on Fridays that usually start at 8. Then once clinical starts you have it either on Thursday Friday or Saturday. I will say I spend most of my free time studying for whatever is coming next. Cramming will not work for you, but it's not too bad
  20. ALSO for those of you checking your email every 5 minutes like I did, last cohort we got our first wave of acceptances on May 23rd, which was a Tuesday at 5 PM (it seems to be the pattern) and they told us we weren't gonna find out until I think June 15th so there's a good chance y'all can hear something by tomorrow. CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL. I didn't even get my "acceptance" email (which weirdly I got 2, one from a Christina Carrozza and one from JoAnn Mendoza) until the next day at 2pm. But I had an email in my junk from that first wave the night before that told me that there has been a "change to my admission status on myUTH" and I saw it the next morning lol
  21. I have a friend that is attending UTMB right now and started the same time I did at UTH (which was this semester) and although she loves it, when we tell stories to each other she frequently tells me that she should have gone to UTH. Take this as you will, but when they say nursing school is way harder than the prerequisites they're not kidding. It's a whole new kind of learning. People who are used to making straight As are fighting for mid-Bs. The reason I say this is that you need a good support system and you need professors that WANT you to succeed and are encouraging and helpful which is what (most of) UTH has. She feels like her teachers try to "weed them out" and make it hard on purpose and feels the total opposite comes from her professors than do mine. HOWEVER just take what I'm saying lightly because it's all subjective and can totally change depending on who you ask. I just thought I would share 1 view on it. I LOVE UTH. It is an incredible school full of support and encouragement from (mostly) everyone. You will have those selfish people who only care about their own success (trust me there's a good few) but mostly everyone wants to help each other out. Good luck to you guys!
  22. I wouldn't be freaking out too much about what it's saying online just yet, remember they just updated and redid the entire myUTH system and they're using that apply site which is not what they've used before. They could still be working out the kinks of what's displayed. If you know your information is in, I wouldn't worry
  23. If I remember correctly, the evaluations pretty much only have your prerequisite courses listed that they are accepting as a "met" requirement and tell you which courses you still need to take. I don't think it tells you anything about what you need to improve on, unless you're like the person who had a 70 on part of her HESI, they probably just let her know that a requirement was not met. I mean I could be wrong but when I got mine thats all I remember about it
  24. When I received my course eval previously it was sent to me in the mail Also, at UTH we receive the same amount of information in the same amount of time. All of the programs are over 4 semesters. The only difference is that instead of taking a summer break, UTH continues through the summer, so that is going to be where you get the more rigorous time reduction. But ever other semester is the same speed as everywhere else. In my opinion, I'm glad I'm at UTH even though the summer will be hard, but I am done faster. And I don't know anything about TWU but as far as UTH goes: your first semester (the one I'm in now) is all about getting a foundation of knowledge, especially pathophysiology. The patho teacher for our school is the best, most informative teacher I have ever had ever. I would just be sure to do your research.
