Fastest way to get out of state license
Hi! I am graduating in TX but have a job offer in CT. CT is not a compact state. What is the fastest way to get my CT license? I thought license by examination would be as I could just take the NCLEX here in TX for a CT license but the BON site says I need to be graduated before I can start that process (if I'm reading correctly). If it takes months for the CT BON to approve me to take the NCLEX here I would have to wait months post graduation before I could even take the NCLEX?

If I apply for Licensure by Examination for a specific state, can I change it?
I will be taking the Nclex this September or October and to save time (since I plan to move) I was thinking about applying for licensure by examination with the state I want to move to now as it takes 10-12 weeks for them to approve me. My question is, if I apply and get approved to get a license out of the state I currently live in, can I change my mind before I take the NCLEX and just get licensure for the state I currently live in? I'm thinking of moving from TX to CA and CA BON is taking a long time to get back to me on this matter. If I just get a TX license and then apply for licensure by endorsement for CA, wont I have to wait atleast 10-12 weeks before I am approved and can begin work in CA? Thank you (:

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
Okay! Thank you for the advice! That might be what I end up doing, then. I still have three months of schooling left and will be taking the NCLEX probably in September.

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
I guess I was hoping I would have a job offer before taking the NCLEX in one of the states I want to go to. My lease is done here a month after I graduate and I don't want to stay here so I've been hopefuly I'll have a job figured out before I graduate in August.

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
This is what I keep hearing. I am not picky about location though and have been applying to many small towns, so I am hoping I can get lucky there.

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
Thank you everyone for the advice and information! I understand better how it works now. I will be looking into applying for licensure with the CA BRN before taking the NCLEX. Does anyone have an estimate on how long this process takes? I am applying to jobs in CA now but am waiting to hear back. I don't know if I want to get my licensure in CA if I don't have a job lined up there. Also do I need to have my BSN and waiting to take the NCLEX before the CA BRN will approve of me taking the NCLEX for CA licensure? Or can I apply while still in school? Thank you!

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
Thank you! I will try selecting CA as my licensure state when I take the NCLEX, as that is my first choice.

Does it matter what state you take the NCLEX?
I will be graduating with my BSN in Texas but I want to work in California or Connecticut. I was under the impression I can take the NCLEX in TX and then just contact the Board of Nursing in CA/CT to have my license transferred to whichever state I move to. I recently heard some nurses saying they thought I had to take the NCLEX in the state I would be working in (CA ot CT), OR I would have to take the NCLEX AGAIN in CA/CT in addition to TX.. Can someone clarify?
