  1. just wanted to let you all know i got the job, even with my horrible experience :)
  2. Yes I am planning on keeping my Hospice position even if I get this Oncology one. I only left my nursing home job because the Hospice was much better paying and flexible for nursing school. I've seen people with no experience get hired on. I just wanted some tips, not negativity.
  3. I have an interview for a Oncology PCT position September 13, 2018. I'm currently going to school in hopes to become an oncology nurse, so this is a big interview for me. I've been working as a Hospice CNA for over 4 months now plus I have another 4 months experience at a nursing home. I really want this job, it'll be the first step to my dream to becoming an oncology nurse. I'm just nervous for the interview since I've never done one with something as big as a hospital before. Any tips? (Also my apologies I'm not sure if this is the appropriate channel for this topic, I wasn't sure how to change it.)
  4. Hi guys! Super sorry for the late reply, I took all your guys advice and all I had to do was pay to reprint a certficate from the INgov website. Hopefully it's good enough for employers. Thank you all so much for your help!!
  5. Thank you so much I figured out my license number! Do you or anyone else know if I can just print that out and give it to my employer or do I have to get a new one sent to me?
  6. Hey guys! I'm looking to get a new CNA job, but I have a problem. I lost my CNA certificate that says I'm officially a CNA. I don't know my license number or anything, so that doesn't help me. I was wondering if there was a way to get a new certificate? I live in Indiana (I know it varies by state) and I've tried to look up what to do, but websites tell me differently. Thank you in advance for your guys help!
  7. Okay guys, follow up. Firstly sorry about putting this in the wrong forum I'm still fairly new to this website, blogging really, and didn't know which forum was appropriate. I tried to find the CNA one but couldn't. Secondly, I called in and quit today and my DON let me know she was putting me down as a no call / no show so I was fired instead of quitting. I'm sorta freaking out about this because I'm scared it'll affect my future jobs. Bright side, I applied to the other surgical clinic in my town! I put this job down but said they couldn't contact them. If by some miracle I get an interview I'm just going to say that it was an abusive and hostile work environment.. unless that's not something I should say. I'm only 20 if people are wondering, I've only had 2 jobs before this because it takes a lot to get me to quit a place, so job apps aren't my specialty. I wasn't expecting so much feedback from you guys about this topic, so thank you guys so much!!!
  8. I notified them 6 hours before my shift began. I didn't know what else to do since they all weren't picking up the phone.
  9. No actually she texted me back. I'm quitting tomorrow
  10. Because I thought it'd look better on a job application if I did it. I know not to do it for next time. I called my workplace 5 times, my unit manager 3, and I even tried to call my DON a few times to call into work tonight (I've literally been calling for hours) and no ones answering so I just ended up texting my DON that I won't be coming in. I didn't know what else to do I hope it won't be considered a no call no show because I tried so hard to call in.
  11. I don't know what was said. But I just want to call and quit because of it but I don't want to lose my CNA license.
  12. I can survive for a few months until I find another job yes. I'm thinking of calling in tomorrow. I'm just really down about the whole situation, I mean who does that? I refuse to work for a person who does that. Bad thing is I haven't even met my manager yet cause she never comes to work.
  13. Hey guys, follow up from my last post. I've been at my job for a month now and its just getting worse and worse by the day. The work environment is just getting more hostile by the day and my misery is growing. I cry before and after I get done with work. I'm stuck caring for 25 patients by myself (bed checks, lay down, get up, etc.) and being fairly new I'm stressed beyond belief and all my co-workers do is bad mouth me and laugh at me and my misery. I was even changing my linen bags and one busted open and instead of helping me my co-workers laughed at me. Not the "laugh with me" type of laugh but just straight up laughed at me and it really made me upset. So, I took it upon myself to look for another job. I wasn't planning on putting my two weeks in until I found another job, I really just want to call and quit but I know how bad that looks. I found a job at a surgical center (I'm thinking of being a surgical technician so this would be the perfect place for me to work and gain experience I think) and went ahead and applied. Well, I didn't lie on my app that I was currently working at my current job and said that they could call because it would look better. That and I have nothing to hide cause I go to work and bust my booty for 12 hours every shift. Well, my friend who works at the surgical center said that her boss was talking about me and was telling them that my manager gave me an awful review. I can't say why she would... I really don't know why she would. But it makes me upset to the point where I want to walk out if my company is so desperate for people to stay they sabotage every opportunity their employees get to further their careers and experiences. I'm just really stressed and I really just don't want to go back to that horrible place. What should I do?
  14. Hello all. Im a brand spankin new CNA who got a job literally 3 weeks ago. I've only worked 4 shifts (one online training day, the other 3 on floor training. And my facility does 12 hour shifts 3 days a week incase anyone wonders why I haven't worked many days.) and now I'm doing tonight off of orientation floor training after 3 days and I'm expected to know all 21 of my residents routines and needs already. The LTC I work at is super understaffed and usually only has 2 night aides from what I'm told. Everyone complains about how much they hate working there and how much they want to quit but tell me that I better stay and work there. Also I haven't met my unit manager yet, I don't know even know her name or what she looks like. I was already told management has already lied to me about majority of what they do to help out to how many aides usually help out because of how badly they need people. Everyone there seems to be in a clique and doesn't even associate themselves with me unless they want me to do their work or to talk down to me like I'm an idiot. Im already stressed out and feel like crying just thinking of going back to that place. The only thing holding me back is that 1.) I hate quitting jobs, especially after only a few weeks even tho I've never felt the urge to quit a job as badly as I've wanted to quit this one. And 2.) I'm scared quitting will show that I'm a bad CNA. I already love what I do, I just don't want to put myself in a hostile environment that'll make me completely burn out from being a CNA. I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't be working in LTC and switch over to the hospital/restorative/assisted living route, but I absolutely love my schedule at my current LTC job. I'm just conflicted and don't know what to do or how to handle this... I just feel like I'm whining and need to build a bridge and get over it. Thank you for your time.
