UTMB Spring 2018
I took the test once, so I can't help you out with that. I used the ATI study guide. It is concise and thorough. I treated studying for the TEAS like another class, working on it some each week in the months leading up to taking the test. I also paid additional for the practice tests, which I recommend because it is the same format as the TEAS and tests your knowledge with the same type of questions. The practice tests tell you what sections you need to focus on based on what questions you missed.

I saw the email around lunch time, but didn't try to schedule an appointment until mid afternoon. You are right thought, doesn't matter now! :)

I did not see today as an option, or I would have chosen today! My appt is in Pearland at 4:10 tomorrow. Getting it done! I'm very happy that some of the things we have to do are coming in early. It makes it easier that way because of how packed my November schedule is!

UTMB Spring 2018
Congratulations to all that have been accepted! I am excited to meet the folks that I will be spending most of my time with for 16 months! :) Anyone planning on attending the Destination Galveston event? Are you planning to take your family with you (it asks for number of guests, so I'm assuming family is welcome?)?

Ok, sounds good! Btw, I did ask about study rooms at my interview. Of course the library, but my experience at other colleges hasn't been all that great with room availability. We are able to use open classrooms for group study! I really like that idea because they have whiteboards and we don't have to worry about disturbing others or being distracted by others making too much noise. I am excited to get things going and to meet my new cohort! I have also been checking for the posting of the Spring 2018 student guide.....nothing yet, still shows the Fall 2017 guide.

Nope! You are not alone Onthepath. I don't have any social media either. If something does get setup on the Facebook page, would someone mind posting it here too?

Congratulations to all that have received a request for an interview! ! Yay! Attire for an the interview should be professional. I wore black slacks, a nice blouse, and I actually carried my black suit coat over my arm because it is so hot! I chose not to wear heels (I wore nice dress black flats). You will have a light walk from the parking garage to the building. It's not like you are hiking or anything like that, but I do still recommend wearing comfortable (but still nice and professional) shoes. Best of luck to all of you!

UTMB Spring 2018
I am not part of admissions either, so this is just my .02. They absolutely read the personal statements. My interviewer told me that he read mine before my interview. I have heard over and over from UTMB alumni (I have 2 in my family) and from people accepted for the fall semester that the personal statement is very important. It gives admissions a glance into who you are as a person and your motives for becoming a nurse. I will admit that it wasn't easy writing about myself, but I'm so glad that I took my time on it and that my personality shined through! I had serious parts and funny parts too! So, onto the academic portion......It makes me uncomfortable to post my stats because I don't want someone to read them and base decisions off them. I always tell my kids not to compare themselves to others, just work hard and do your very best. Inevitably, they still compare themselves . I hope that I'm making the right decision to post this info now and that it helps to alleviate someone's fears or anxiety. I have a high GPA (mostly an A student) and made an 85.3 on the TEAS. I was interviewed in the first round. I don't believe my TEAS score had anything to do with it. I believe it was my GPA and my personal statement combined. I have seen others with higher TEAS scores, and equivalent or lower GPAs than me in the first round too. The point I'm trying to make is that I don't believe it is any one thing, but a combination of factors that are used to determine who gets admitted. All you can do is your very best, right??!! That is the attitude I have kept since I started down the path to Nursing school. Making the decision to leave my almost twenty year engineering career behind (I'm 40), was a scary thing to do, but it has also been rewarding and exciting to be opening another chapter in my life. Don't let anything (or anyone) take you off your course! Do your very best, and the rest, well, I believe whatever is meant to be will be! Congratulations to those that have been admitted, and best of luck to those still waiting. We are all pulling for you and hope to see all of you at Spring 2018 Orientation!! I think I need a nap after writing this book! LOL

Yes, thank you Jules. I emailed Dorothy with UTMB, and she said it should be some time next week for the New student guide for Spring 2018 to be posted (use the link Jules posted above).

UTMB Spring 2018
I believe that the new student guide is the new student checklist? ?? Onthepath? Jules? Can either of you confirm this?

You must download the VPN software and have it running (with dual authentication) when you connect to MySTAR. The IT phone number that you called for your password is the same number you call for support. They can walk you through it step by step!

I am unsure about your TEAS retake and submittal question. UTMB can see updates to NursingCAS. However, once you have been accepted, your transcripts must be sent directly to UTMB. I sent updates for Spring 2017 courses completed to NursingCAS. UTMB did have the updates when my MyStar to do list changed (only my remaining prerequisites are listed).

I would. However, you should be able to update your app as long as you are not updating previously verified grades.
