Keeping textbooks for reference?
You are brilliant. I rarely used the online versions during school so I didn't even think of this. I do have access and I am in the process of downloading the Etext now and will try to sell the actual books. Thanks for the great idea!

Keeping textbooks for reference?
So I graduated in May and recently passed my NCLEX and am starting my RN job next month. I am also moving to another state and am in the process of downsizing everything I own. That being said, part of me wants to hold onto my two medsurg textbooks. I keep thinking I might need to reference it if I'm unsure of something at work and as a reference with continuing education. Granted, nursing information is always changing and research is always being added, so is that even worth it? I'm starting in a graduate nurse program, so I know there will be resources... Basically, my question is to all of you working nurses, did you keep your textbooks and ever reference them when you started working?

ATI prep enough for NCLEX?
I graduated in May and am waiting on my ATT. I used ATI all through my program and took the comp predictor with a 94% chance of passing the first time. After that, I did the 3-day ATI live review and have been taking practice tests every day since. I have read mixed reviews about ATI in regards to NCLEX and am wondering if I should add another study source? I don't think it is worth learning any new content at this point, and am more focused on strategy. I read every rationale when I do my practice tests. I am considering buying a months access to just the Q banks/ tests from Kaplan. Worth it or no? Any advice from your experience would be wonderful! Thank you!

Out of state fingerprinting
Hey! So I ended up using Fieldprint, which has locations in all 50 states. They did the Livescan and photograph right there and was sent straight to the Florida department of law enforcement. I would highly suggest this method because it saves you a couple steps and the hassle of hard cards and finding a service in florida that will convert them. I think it was $70 or $80? But you sign up online and just select all the information related to Florida (there are instructions on the florida BON website with the correct ORI numbers).

Licensure by endorsement or go to Florida to test?
Hello all! I am the OP. I have spent the last couple days reading through the Florida SBON website and contacting multiple people to clarify everything. I thought I would give you all an update! First of all, I have been confirmed by Pearson VUE and Florida that I can indeed test in PA (where I live and go to school) but as long as I register through Florida state board and Pearson vue, i can technically take the test at any of the authorized testing centers and receive my florida license that way. Because I am registering through Florida, I will get a Florida license even though I am physically testing in PA. Second, there are requirements for licensure in Florida, just as there are with all states. For instance, for PA, we had to complete a child abuse certification class. For Florida, there was a 2 hour preventing medical error class (which after completing, I realized may only be necessary for renewal, but too much education is never a bad thing). And there is a whole fingerprinting process that I completed as well. Third, I have since sat down and discussed everything with my program director. He was very helpful and walked through the website again with me to confirm all my research. The only thing I am unclear on at this point is sending my transcripts. There is a form and address to send them to, but must I wait for all grades to be processed? That takes a little while after I officially pass this last semester, and I want all my requirements sent in and ready to go so I can get my ATT without prolonging the process. I am going to contact the BON about this tomorrow. Thank you all for your insight and knowledge to help me work through this. Many of you have been very helpful with your posts. Thank you!

Out of state fingerprinting
Thank you both for the info! I found a Fieldprint service near me that will Livescan and photograph and send them right to Florida. Apparently Fieldprint is in all 50 states and skips the extra step of having to send it to a separate Florida service to transfer it to the department.

Out of state fingerprinting
Hello, I am graduating in two weeks from a school in Pennsylvania. I want to make sure I have all my requirements for when I register for Pearson vue and Florida State Board of Nursing. I have been researching the fingerprinting process for out of state applicants and am so confused. Do I have to get hard fingerprint cards (and where?) and have my finger printing done locally, and then send them to a company that makes them electronic, and then do they send them to the state? I am so unclear on this process and was wondering if anyone has been through it and could offer some advice on what worked out. Edit: I keep seeing posts about Live Scan. I have a facility near me that does Live scan and fingerprinting...is that acceptable or does it have to be a Florida service???? How do I get my results to florida? thank you!

Licensure by endorsement or go to Florida to test?
Thank you VERY much for clarifying this. This saves a lot of stress and an unneeded flight down. Thank you

Licensure by endorsement or go to Florida to test?
Thanks for informing me. It's a little frustrating. So am I to just register for Pearson VUE and then Florida State board of nursing instead of Pennsylvania state board? I was only given instructions on how to register for PA, but i'm assuming if I follow the steps for PA but through Florida state board of nursing, it's roughly the same? And then will my ATT will allow me to test in PA? I appreciate the help. I'm not entirely clear on the whole process. I'm calling florida and pearson vue tomorrow.

Licensure by endorsement or go to Florida to test?
Okay, thank you for the information. My advisor told me if I take the test in Pennsylvania, I will receive a Pennsylvania license...I explained the whole wanting to just apply for Florida without going down, but he said I either had to take it in PA and get a PA license or fly to Florida to test or just apply for endorsement.

Licensure by endorsement or go to Florida to test?
Hello! I am about to graduate in 2 weeks and have to decide if I want to take the NCLEX here in Pennsylvania where I currently live, or fly down to florida to take it (which is where i'm moving to and planning on working starting in August of this year). I guess my question is: if I take the NCLEX in PA, how long will the process take to transfer my license to Florida (by endorsement)? I know state things can be slow, but I wasn't sure if anyone else went through this process immediately after obtaining their license or had suggestions? If I take the NCELX sometime in June, would I even have time to transfer it by August? I'm not really leaning one way more than the other. Both have pros and cons based on my personal life right now. I really am open to suggestions and hearing what has worked for you! Thanks
