  1. It's from touching people's nasty money all day, I used to wear gloves while cashiering bc sometimes people give you nasty coins that are very dirty, sometimes wet. The gloves help open the bags top
  2. You'd be better off doing a CNA course. I have been an MA for 3 years and it's true, you get locked into clinic hours and it's hard to continue going to school (although possible). Also you don't get any nursing experience where as a CNA course will get you closer to RN, there's flexible hours + experience and you can work in a hospital or nursing home and possibly get hired as an RN once you finish.
  3. Do you know if their physical consists of a drug test for MJ? I only smoke sometimes, but I am worried bc they never said anything about a drug test and I know the physical happens WHILE you are in school. I don't want to take the chance of getting kicked out and they take my money.
  4. Anything you think I should start studying before that would help be better prepared?
  5. Planning to start July. It is an accelerated program and I just wanted to see if you guys have heard if this place?
  6. I didnt expend my energy getting an RN license because I've been working on my prereqs and general ed for the RN program for 2 years and found out i'll be on the waitlist for possibly another 2 years and i do not have that kind of time, support, or money to be waiting 4-5 years before I can have a decent paying job. So...im taking the LVN route. So i could make money while in school. And the reason I asked is because MA is not nursing experience BUT it is healthcare experience, which many new grads don't have at all except their time in school. I also mentioned that I also do Home care...you guys missed that part.
  7. Hi, so I just signed up for the LVN program and I start in July. But I have been worried because I have been reading many threads of people not being able to find a job as an LVN. Not being able to find a Job as an MA is the reason I am going back to school (better pay, more flexibility) but are there really more opportunities too? I dont want to work LTC or home health. I have been an MA for 3 years and have lots of experience floating to different specialties...do u think i'll have an easier time finding a job as a new grad LVN since i have healthcare experience as a medical assistant and a little bit of home care giving experience as well?? nervous about the decision i made
  8. I think you should try getting a job somewhere else, from what i've seen on this site alot of nurses that start out at LTC facilities aren't happy with their job. Maybe LTC isn't for you? There are ither places that you can work as an LPN like doctor office, hospital, or even some surgery centers.
