  1. OK, fellow m/s nurses.... I am just interested in what you all consider to be an average workload per day.... Not counting nights, which at my facility is usually better staffed than days, on the average day how many discharges/admission to you as a staff nurse do and take. Just got off a shift yesterday where I was charge nurse, ended up taking two admission and doing six discharges. Other staff nurses each started with 7, d/c'd two, and had two more patients added by the end of the day. Six of these admissions were fresh Orthos, setting up PCA's etc. Please post and let me know your average day. P.S. I'm in KY, and you California nurses don't even need to answer, we know your ratios... :)
  2. how did you assignment go? I am interviewing for jobs with AdvanRn also. Please post update
  3. I am going to graduate from ADN program in May '07. My question is to other nurses already working on the floors, how does your hospital policy cover incident reports? Do you chart the actual incident in the nursing notes, with no mention of the incident report being filed - or do you only file the incident report? We are going to have a lawyer speak to our class about this and I am wondering what is the PROPER way to proceed with this. The institution where I am doing clinicals at does not chart any of the actual incident in the nursing notes, but eludes to the patient's well-being after incident. Our instructor did some research and found you should note the incident but not about the incident report being filed as this would make it possible for it to be subpoened in a legal proceeding. How do your institutions handle this?
