Has anyone on the waitlist received acceptance yet?

Can you quote or link us to where it says this? No community college can offer a BS. It may have partnerships with other schools such as SFSU for example, but the class size for SFSU is ridiculously competitive. After your AS, you'd be back competing with hundreds of applicants to get into a bridge.

I'm probably going to be looking for room/housemates! Would be cool to room with other nursing students in my cohort. I'll post on the FB page as the beginning of the semester nears/talk to some of you at orientation!

I got into both CCSF AND CSM, but will be going to a CSU for the fact that I will get a BSN. I think you should go to Samuel Merritt. Sure you may be taking out 80K in loans, but you will make tons of money as a nurse in the bay area to pay it back quickly. In addition, it may be harder to find a job with an ASN in the bay area, as well as the fact that you'd have to do an additonal year or two to obtain a BSN.

I am debating on attending one of the two, and want to know if anyone has any advice on which would be a better program to attend with regards to also how likely it would be to get a job in both areas. LA is a very large place, whereas San Jose, I feel like, is super saturated because of it being the silicon valley. From what I've heard is that San Jose would most likely have a higher starting pay as an RN because the cost of living is of the highest in California. Both are very decent in terms of pass rates with LA being the higher of the two. Thank you for your input in helping me make a decision! P.S. I'm also on the waitlist for SFSU and will most likely go there if admitted from waitlist because it is only a two year program. Am I wrong for wanting to go to a 2 year BSN program? I would find it much more ideal to go to school for 2 years VS 3 years!

I was admitted to the nursing program and to the school... but I have a question about transcripts. On my "To Do List", all it says is that I need to complete Intent to Enroll. Nothing else. Yet, apparently, work in progress partial transcripts are due by May 1 for transfer students according to the University Deadlines. Does this mean I should submit all transcripts still, even though it doesn't say that I have to on my to do list? Also, how many students are in each cohort for the SON for fall? I couldn't seem to find this number on the website.

I have to submit a correction for my application so I don't know where I stand on the waitlist or in the program. Does anyone have 77 points, and if so, are you in the program or waitlisted? (if waitlisted, what number are you at?)

What was the point cut off before the waiting list?

I also just now received admission to the SON! I also had 26 points. P.S. still undecided where I want to go for nursing school, but will update people on this thread on the waitlist if I decide not to go here! It's not my top #1 school, so hopefully this opens up a spot for someone else!

This post is PERFECTION. Thank you ihateseagulls for clearing up the air for all of us. I too only qualify for 2 optional criterias, and it is disappointing to know that I scored in the 90's for the TEAS/got a near 4.0 GPA, yet I am not even in the top 80.

Let's not take our anxieties of waiting to hear back and use it to become an irrational witch-hunter. I never meant to say or imply that economically disadvantaged/financial disadvantage is synonymous with stupidity. Do NOT take my post and try and portray me as this horrible person. What I think, is that economic disadvantage is very much related to financial disadvantage. Why does this give 12 points to a potential applicant? I am not saying that these people are not smart or capable. They very well may be. I'm simply stating facts, which is that a student who underperformed on the TEAS/GPA can get into the program over someone who did excellent academically EASILY (with these optional categories). TEAS has a big correlation to NCLEX pass rates. The lower the teas/gpa, the lower the nclex pass rates. It's the truth. Someone who is not great in either can get into the program through the optional criteria alone.

I agree that there are many flaws with the new criteria. SAC State is notoriously known to have some of the best if not the best pass rates for a BSN program. If they are going to begin to prioritize and put people in the program based on economic status and disadvantaged background, then they can say goodbye to their pristine pass rates. Students who put in the work to obtain a decent TEAS score and GPA will be replaced by students who got 8 points from Economical Disadvantage and Environmental Circumstances. I've e-mailed Teri with feedback saying exactly this. Good thing that in the e-mail that they sent us yesterday, that they said they are going to review their criteria and possibly update/change it, making it more fair.

Admissions to SON will be sent out beginning tomorrow in waves that end in the next week.

It was instructed not to give out any information about the process or risk losing points in getting into the program, so unfortunately I can't say much.

Congratulations! Out of the people who have interviews coming up: how many of you are actually going to accept an offer for admission to this program? I think it would be a good idea if we all get to know if we have a chance to get in for those who may be waitlisted. In other words, who has an interview and who has this program listed as their Top school to go to?

Hi MARod, Last year's fall class, 100% of those admitted had volunteer experience and 94% had multicultural experience. I can't tell from your post if you had either, but judging based on the stats it looks like volunteer/multicultural experience is mandatory.

Hi Klow, Attached is their admissions stats for fall of 2017. Their TEAS cutoff was 84.7 last fall cycle. It might be that they wanted a higher TEAS score I would still e-mail or call to ask though! [ATTACH=CONFIG]26383[/ATTACH]
