As a nurse, you may be tasked with providing care to a pedophile, a racist, a verbally and/or physically abusive towards you patient, a murderer, the drunk driver responsible for hurting another patient on the unit, etc... Since you are pro-life, than you should know that each patient deserves to be treated with dignity and should receive the same care you'd give the Queen of England. Treat all of your patients with kindness and compassion. Even the ones that it may feel like they don't deserve that. If you don't want to be involved in the abortion process, that's as simple as not taking a job that would require that. If it comes up in a medical history that a patient has had an abortion, don't let that change the care you give her. She is your patient, and it is your responsibility to care for her. And, if it helps, if your pro-life stance is based on religious beliefs, think about how Jesus would treat her. Think of how he spent time with lepers and prostitutes - he would treat her with love, compassion, and kindness.

No gift from my hospital either. One of the events they had was a luau themed lunch. The CEO sent out an email inviting all staff to wear Hawaiian shirts, unless, of course, they wear the mandatory antimicrobial uniform --- aka everyone the lunch was for! I just thought the email showed how out of touch management can be. Like, first of all, did you really think we were going to be like, "I can wear a Hawaiian shirt to work?! I thought this day would never come! Thank you, Mr. CEO!!!" Second of all, if you expect people to wear their uniform, this Hawaiian shirt "privilege" is really only for employees that don't wear a uniform, which, in my hospital, is mostly management and office workers, who, while much appreciated, aren't being celebrated during Nurses' Week.

Yeah, I'd send out an email to all staff members reviewing that pencils do not contain lead, and students cannot get lead poisoning after getting poked. Maybe throw in some links to info to back it up.

Professional treatment is usually necessary, but I would hold off until she is removed as your client, or you'll likely end up with a reinfestation.
