  1. Hi Everyone, Just a quick note. Banner nurses are getting RAISES!!!! It may just be RN's, but pay is going up to approx. $24/hr. for new grads. I'm working there, having relocated from out-of-state. My relo package was great - especially by moving in to a specific zip code I received an additional $3K moving. The money was paid up-front - taxed at 25%, but up front!! I work med/surg and our patient load is between 4-5 patients. However, the biggest downfall I have found is that they spin the rooms like a top. You no sooner get someone discharged and they're calling to fill it. Sometimes you can end up with an additional 4 patients per 12 hour shift. Also, they are really BIG in transferring between 6-7:30 pm. Last week we had 4 transfers in at 6:45 to 7:20. It was NASTY!!! I will tell you that Scottsdale pays better than anyone. Their shift diff for the evening/nights is the best in Phoenix. They also pay your student loans back at $5,200/year for RNs. Hope this helps you make a decision. tracy
  2. Are you an RN or LPN. You can take an 8-10 week course through Gateway Community College. If you go through Maricopa Community Colleges website they should be able to show you what is available. Good luck tracy
  3. Hi Suzanne4, Thanks for your input. I do know about the compact states. I will probably not move for awhile as I have a house to sell and will be mooching off a friend until that happens. I'll go back to doing just 100 questions per day to see if that helps me retain more content. Thanks again.
  4. I've been reading your messages regarding NCLEX RN #2. I recently took the RN exam for the 1st time and failed. I'm so discussed with myself. - I do know others have and will be in the same boat. Any suggestions on studying for the next round. Because I failed my "hospital" put me out to pasture and I'm not working - may end up losing everything over this relocation failure. I'm hoping to go to Dallas and get a job as an LPN so $$ starts coming in - I can stay with friends. If I knew then what I found out now - I would have stayed in Phoenix and made a lot more $$. I studied for almost 3 months via the Saunders review. I did 200-400 questions almost everyday and was still unprepared. My test was 1/3 peds - which I knew nothing about :) and then lots of priority, deligation questions. I definitely need a new game plan before trying again. I will, however, not take boards via MO, but in my home state of Iowa or TX - since both are compact states. Thanks in advance. tracy
  5. I'm an LPN (LVN) with a license from a compact state. I finished my AAS/Nursing in August and took job as a GNI in MO. Well, I didn't pass MO boards so the hospital has put me out to pasture :rotfl: . I'm not sure if I have a job with them or not. They know I am an LPN, but when asked told me to let them know when I pass my RN boards. I really ticked off - as I bought a house here and haven't worked in 1 month. A friend suggested I try Dallas as an LPN then take boards later once I'm back on my feet financially. Can anyone give me information on hospitals in the Dallas area that utilize LPNs and what the pay rate is. I have approximately 1 1/2 years experience. Any additional advise is truly appreciated - I'm definitely DESPERATE!!! Thanks in advance. tracy
  6. Hi Tracy, I can tell you they don't pay those wages in Springfield. The new grad RN wage is $16.50/hr, LPNs make $11.00/hr. I am so discussed with this area I could scream. I moved here for a job and found out there are problems - like medicare fraud investigations and embezzlement. Now I"m stuck here with a house payment and no $$. Good luck, but you probably want to stick close to STL or KC. tracy:scrying:
  7. I just read your message regarding endorsing from IA to MO. It is very difficult. I am an LPN with Iowa license and IV certs from AZ. They made me jump through hoops just to get the right information, then I had to test and due practicum for $75 just to get the IV cert on my LPN license. You definitely need to think about the pay here. As a GN the pay is $16.50 , night diff is $2.35/hr. and there is no W/E diff. Since I didn't pass boards for RN they immediately bumped my wage back to $11/hr. I was prepared (sortof) via another student that didn't pass. This has really ticked me off as I moved here from out-of-state and had not been told the whole picture about MO. I really do like living here but had I known the pay and treatment was so crappy I would have stayed away and made $25/hr as an LPN. There is a registry called Intelistaff that seems to be paying pretty well - that's where I'm headed. Good luck.
