  1. Hey Nicole!! If you want to email any questions feel free to reach me at [email protected]
  2. Ya I have contacted a couple recruiters and did not have much information given to me about it. I am calling today to speak with a chief in the medical recruitment. So hopefully that helps! But I will definitely ask you some questions if you don't mind!
  3. So I recently started Nursing School Jan 8th and one of the things I've learned is that there is a Nursing Candidate Program for the Navy or (NCP) Has anyone taken this route? I plan on going to speak with a recruiter about it but just wanted to hear from other people and get their perspective on it.
  4. Hey everyone! So I just got the call today and set up an interview for December 5th. I was told that we have to take the Kaplan prior to interviewing. I have taken the Kaplan in the past and was curious if I would still have to retake it? Also if anyone has any advice for the interview it would be much appreciated hoping to finally get this nursing career going!
  5. So right now my GPA is a 3.66. I had to take the Kaplan exam for the school I applied to, I scored a 80 on it. It was really competitive program- 360 applicants and 120 get admitted. I missed the cutoff for points by less than 10 points. Didn't get points for not being a resident, so pretty slim think my GPA cost me, however I do not think it is terrible. I am looking to get into an RN program, doesn't matter if it is associates or bachelors.
  6. So recently was denied from one of the schools I applied to. I know I should have applied to more than one. However, just been having a lot of trouble figuring the application processes. Does anyone have any advice? My advisors have not been the best and have had some tell me I should explore a different major as well. I know I want to do nursing and do not see myself doing anything else. Anything helps guys!! -Looking to get RN Associates or Bachelors does not matter. -Took the Kaplan and scored 80 -GPA- 3.66
  7. Got my score back and got an 80%.. Although Im not sure 100% I think I did well. Math was my strong point. Reading- 82% Math- 96% Writing- 76% Science- 60% Critical thinking- 69% Any idea what are good average or bad scores? I haven't really heard much on a scale for this specific exam! Thanks for the help!
  8. Hey Hope! Thanks for your input. So for the exam I found the most difficult part science. It is really specific, I think the best way to study for me was reviewing all the main ideas of the body systems in the body and knowing some more of the specifics with tissues and how certain organs do what. For example, a question might be something like what is the site where most digestion occurs or something along that lines. It was too specific to recall any of the questions. For the Science sections. It was almost all physiology. Math- Know fractions/mixed numbers, dividing fractions. Simple math, I found that section the easiest. I recommend taking your time and we were allowed breaks in between if we finished with enough time left.. I recommend that just to step back and take a breather. Reading/Writing- Was a little frustrating because it is "Where would you put this sentence" or "What does this passage mean" (ACT) kind of questions! Hope this helps, most importantly be confident! I applied to the ADN program at Lansing Community College in Michigan.
  9. Hey guys, So a little update. Today I took my Kaplan and received my score. I however, am not sure if I did well or not because of the little I can find about average test scores for the Kaplan. My scores today were: Reading- 82% | Math- 96% | Writing -76% | Science- 60% At the end when I received my score it also said Critical Thinking- 69%, but I am unsure if that is calculated into the overall score. So my overall score was 80%. Also my school I applied to is the first school I have heard that uses the Kaplan entrance exam. Are there good amount of colleges that use it as well. All feedback is much appreciated thanks for taking the time to read this! Sidenote to those that have not taken the Kaplan: DO NOT USE THE BLUE KAPLAN BOOK IT DID NOT HELP. I recommended these books: Cliff Notes "Anatomy and Physiology" Quick Review (Orange/Black/Yellow) and "Davis' Basic Math Review for Nurses" (Blue/Orange) -Prich
  10. That's awesome good for you!!! I'm really excited to get things going, thank you so much for the advice, it is much appreciated.
  11. Great info! Anything that you would recommend doing that you did that you noticed was helpful the second time around?
  12. I just applied to the 2 year track program because I dont not have any other degrees right now. I just ordered a kaplan book off amazon.
  13. Hey guys, I recently just applied to nursing school this past Thursday and the program I am going into accepts students based of a point system. A good amount of the points can be earned through the Kaplan exam. I was wondering if anyone had some advice on pre-exam advice in regards on what to study or materials to prepare with as well as during the exam! Thank you!
