ATTN RNs: UMD Medical Center or Johns Hopkins
I am moving to Baltimore, MD from philly. I have my first degree (BS in Nutritional Sciences) from PSU from May 2017. I graduate my accelerated BSN nursing program this December 2018. I have heard pros and cons of both University of Maryland Medical Center and Johns Hopkins. I am curious of those nurses (or others) who have had experiences at either or both?? I heard Johns Hopkins is salary and pays less because of the "name", but the "name" helps you a lot. But UMD is more nursing focused than doctor focused like Johns Hopkins. UMD also gives more for tuition assistance? (I want to get my masters) Td;lr which hospital is better for nurses? University of Maryland Medical Center or Johns Hopkins?

I have NO idea what speciality to choose. Please help!
I am in an accelerated nursing program (2 semesters left yay!). I have a previous BS in Nutrition. I am realizing that I have no idea what nursing speciality to go into. So far we have had our maternity, peds, rehab, and long term care clinical rotations. I haven't been in love with any of them yet. I also work as a nursing assistant in the OR and don't really love that either. Any my advice to how you chose your speciality? Right now I feel like I am just narrowing down what I don't want to do. However, I am nursing that I wouldn't be exposed to a speciality I like while in school. Do people apply to jobs without any clinical or job experience in that area? i feel a little lost please help!

Nurse Residency Program vs. Entry Level/New Grad Nurse Jobs?
I am curious of people's opinions and experiences of nurse residency programs vs. a entry level/new graduate nurse job right out of school. Some background about me: I am currently in an accelerated nursing program (half-way done and graduating in December 2018). I graduated in May 2017 with another degree (B.S. in Nutrition, Dietetics). I am also a nursing assistant in the OR (even though I am not sure if this is the specialty I want to be in). I am currently in the Philadelphia area, but also considering moving to Baltimore. With all the "extra" experience I have, I am not sure if a nurse residency program is for me? I will have been in school for 5.5 years straight between my first BS degree and my second degree (BSN). I am kind of sick of "school work" and heard that in residency programs you have to go to class and complete projects. However, I heard that they are good programs to do to "learn" your specialty. I am not sure what specialty I would like to go in yet, however. Do entry level/new grad positions offer enough orientation for new nurses? Also, I was researching that some programs do not guarantee a job after the program is over? Also, that some residency programs pay way less than a RN job. Please share your experiences and any advice! Thank you!
