1. Thanks for the responses. I recently found out that I was accepted into the program for fall 2017. My biggest concern is my lack of experience in the NICU. I only have 2 months experience and I work in a level 3 NICU but we don't always have babies with that acuity. We mostly have level 1 with a few level 2 babies. The program advisor told me that I only need 1 year experience by the time clinicals begin. It's a 3 year program and clinicals won't start until the last year, so I'll have about 2 years experience before clinicals. My clinicals will be in a larger city with very high acuity, so I will get that experience during clinicals. Im just worried I'm jumping into things too fast. Can anyone one give me advice on what they think? I have always wanted to be an NNP. This is my dream come true getting into this program. If I start clinicals in 2 years and feel completely incompetent to be at that level, I have no problem asking if I can defer until I gain more experience. It's not ideal, but I would never finish the program if I don't feel qualified to practice as an NNP. I would really appreciate some advice thank you for reading :)
2. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. I went to Harrison and actually had a great experience. The only negative thing I would have to say is the cost. I have friends who went to Ivy Tech and had less than 8,000 in loans. My debt is over 40K. I had no problem getting into IU for my ASN-BSN, except some of my general classes didn't transfer. I just took them at Ivy Tech and then I was accepted into IU. Can I ask what accreditation Harrison lost? Was it the nursing accreditation or the regional accreditation they were working towards but didn't have yet?
3. Hey everyone, I have an interview coming up for a NNP program. I was wondering if there were any NNP's on this board who could give me advice and tell me any interview questions they remember that are specific to NICU? I have been practicing generic type of questions that I've found online, but nothing related to NICU. And any advice would be very appreciative Thank You
