Hey, all. Going back to school again, and I'm assuming my insurance probably won't cover titers. ? Any thoughts on where to get the titers efficiently and at reasonable cost?

Well.... I came home from a very stressful work day, and I was relieved to see a thick envelope. :) !!!! I can't believe I made it.

Congrats to those accepted. Can't bring myself to call. Just hoping that letter arrives.

Me neither. I'm just gonna wait for the mail. It can't take to long for a letter to get from downtown to West Ashley...hopefully.

It will be exactly 8 weeks this coming Sunday. I've read from previous years that it could take more than 8 weeks. What's funny is that the last time I applied to school I basically forgot about it until I got the acceptance letter. Maybe it is the competitiveness of the school or the fact that I'm really excited to pursue this degree, but I'm at the mailbox like clockwork as soon as I get home from work. Then I get angry at the other pieces of mail for not being acceptance letters from MUSC. Lol. It would just be so great to get in.

Hmm. When did you apply for FAFSA?

I did get the Financial Aid email. The Email stated very clearly something like 'receiving this email does not mean that you have been accepted to the program' and that the email went out to ALL prospective students who applied for financial aid. I applied for the FAFSA early just in case I got in.

I am anxiously awaiting my approval, too. I'm 34 years old, local to Charleston, ready to career change to nursing. My GPA is a 3.6, pre-req GPA is also around a 3.6. I have zero hands-on medical experience, but lots of patient contact in a non-hands on way through my social work career.

I think it said 8 weeks after the deadline on the website, so I'm guessing mid-March.

Hey, all. Just wanted to start a thread for those who have applied and waiting to hear about acceptance and also any current students who have words of wisdom or experience getting in. I just applied in December, and I'm anxiously waiting to hear back; my science GPA and overall GPA are around 3.6-3.7. I've been a social worker in addiction and medical settings for about 10 years, so, I have of patient care experience but no 'hands-on' patient care experience unfortunately. Good luck to everyone!

That actually seems like a perfect age. I'm 34 and making a career change. When going through social work school I had 2 50-somethings and a 60 year old in my class. 30 is young, comparatively, but also brings more life-experience and maturity than someone who is 19 or 20. I figure, if the average person changes careers 3 times in their life, then there are a lot of us going back to school 30s or 40s. The main thing, I think, is: Are you sure you want to do it? and Do you have room in your life for a fairly grueling program?
