That's interesting. I planned to take one class per day since I'm also trying to work a schedule that's friendly to my employer. However, I'm going to play around with stacking classes in morning and evenings.

Does anyone have any idea on when we should start seeing the BON notices come through for either pass/fail?

I have no doubt that what you have said about being overqualified is the main impediment to gaining entry level employment. I have known this was going to be an issue. I was hoping that knowing I am seeking to transition to a new industry would give the HR rep a reason to see where my skill set transfers to the healthcare segment. In my position, I would certainly have no problems offering employment to someone from another industry as long as I could see where their skill set transfers. I do intend to sit for the CNA test in December, after my first semester -- as Double Helix also suggested. I was just hoping to find a way in the door sooner rather than later.

I have been applying for entry level work that according to the position details I have the qualifications for and basic entry level positions. I am looking for ANYTHING in the hospital: transporter, scribe, customer service, admitting clerk, PCA, housekeeping, etc. Do you feel there is a position that I would be better suited to applying for? I haven't chosen anything that requires certifications or X length of experience in the medical position. Honestly, I expected to at least get hired for night shift housekeeping....

Hi - thank you for clicking. I start Level 1 classes on a BSN in the fall. I have no medical experience on my resume. I have been operations management, or some other type of business management for over 20 years. I feel like I need to find employment in the medical industry but am not getting any positive responses to my resume submissions. I have been submitting my resumes directly to the employer website, staffing agency or 3rd party recruiting sites, as applicable. What can I do to get my foot in the door to get any experience in a medical/health care environment? I would appreciate any feedback you can offer. Thank you!

Not sure. There are old posts from previous years where some received rejection letters then later were sent offers. People drop out, reject the offer and flunk the prereqs. Anything can happen.

They were so insistent that Tyler was waiting though! I was very surprised to see an email today. Atleast the edge is off and I can concentrate on Test 3 now and not be skitzing about the program.

Sorry for the rejection letters. It's so hard waiting and then not getting in. On the bright side, you will be poised to have easy entry to the Spring semester.

I received my acceptance letter to the Tyler campus.

What campus are you taking patho at?

Tonya--y'all are lucky. Tyler definitely has to wait. Our test is Thursday. The likelihood they will send letters Friday is slim. We can only hope they have everything tabulated and decisions made and use the Test 3 grade to confirm.

The patho instructor said today that they are waiting until after test three to make decisions. I know the wait for test three specifically applies to Tyler campus. Before spring break, the instructor said grades had already been submitted to Palestine and Longview so they may have already started their selection process. However, they could factor in test three like Tyler is and ask for new grades. Long story short...no matter what campus...I wouldn't expect to hear anything until the end of the first week in April.

My patho instructor did say that grades had already been submitted for Longview and Palestine. Tyler would be the only one to have Test 3 factored. So---I'll sit here and wait impatiently. :-)

Same here. Anxiously awaiting. I have to tell my employer something asap to see if he will work with my schedule so I can start job hunting ASAP.

Interesting...so based on your comments regarding the advisor indicating it may be next week, it would seem they are not waiting for test 3 scores to factor into their decision. Test 3 is on the 30th so I guess they could use the score and send out letters Friday 31st.

Received this notice from the instructor today: "I plan to review information with you this week on uniforms etc. to help you prepare for entry into this program -this will be at the end of class so if you are not starting the UTT nursing program in May or next fall you can leave early." Since we haven't received notice of acceptance to the program, how would we know if we are starting or not? I could assume there are people in the class that do not intend to apply, but then why take the class? Special permission from the advisor was needed to enroll. When I enrolled, she questioned my intent for the program... Thoughts?...

I'm really thinking its when they accessed our applications. A means to keep track of everyone and who needed to be reviewed still.

That would be awesome. I was thinking it was activated when someone accessed/reviewed my online application. I'm liking your line of thinking but even so 3/21 is still before our Test 3 in Patho. Hhmmm....

Did anyone else receive an appointment notice from Tammie Cooper? I just received the email but it said the appt was for 2/21 10minute block for program review. I will contact Tammie tomorrow but was hoping someone else received one too...didn't want to be the anomaly.

I would hope for the fairness to other applicants and the integrity of the program, that anyone initially accepted but ultimately fails, is not allowed another opportunity until the next application period for Spring.

She means that if after admission to the program next month, that if you do not ultimately pass patho or concepts, then you will not be admitted to the program in the fall. They will drop you and give your space to someone who was waitlisted.

Patho instructor just told us that she has requested that the Tyler campus hold off on applicant decisions until after Test 3. She hasn't received confirmation but said the board is considering it. She said Palestine and Longview programs have already requested grades for decision making. She said if you applied to Longview or Palestine that grades for Test 1/2 have been submitted. She said we have to pass ads patho and concepts to be accepted. So students who are accepted now may be excluded at course end.

Pharmacology is not offered during the summer.
