Upstate NY Starting Salary
@Ite16 My experience here isn't so much a thrill as I expected. I can surely say that pay is a down fall and living expenses is not so much different with NJ depending where you leave and pay in Nj is better... apartments are about the same price with central jersey or slightly cheaper. I have family/ friends who are also nurses living in Nj who certainly agree that their is a huge gap when we discuss our career experiences. New York taxes are higher which makes it another down fall. If it is nothing important you are searching for in upstate, I would say Nj. I plan on moving to elsewhere soon due to these reasons. Hense, this is the good reason of researching before doing actions. Sorry for my late reply

Nurses corp loan forgiveness
@cola89 Yeah I need that . Thank you It's a federal program that can potentially help nurses with some loans if you work in facilities that have a shortage of nurses and in undeserved communities. You can check it out incase it is somehow useful to you.

Nurses corp loan forgiveness
Has anyone applied for Nurses Corp Loan Forgiveness before? I just applied for the 2017 cycle and I have an issue that is bothering me. Here it is... Do they accept all the loans funded to me towards school? What I really mean is.... I have some federal loans under my name and I also have another larger loan pulled out under my mother's name. My loans alone couldn't help me through school so she helped me out. It's extremely expensive for her considering her income and other responsibilities. I really need help with the loan borrowed under my mother's because it's too overwelling for her and I and are actually larger than the ones under my name. Can someone advise me?

Upstate NY Starting Salary
Hey did you already move? I actually just moved up here and I am a new graduate searching for a nursing position near the Albany, Latham, Schenectady area ( which are fairly close to each other). Moving from NYC area and Northern New Jersey, I was really surprised on how much nurses get payed up here. I know that New York City living expenses are a lot more higher than up here and I suppose this is why the pay differences have such a huge gab. Some of my friends whom we graduated together and are now working in NYC are getting paid around $35-$40 an hour and others even higher adding up to an average salary of 75-95k yearly depending on the facility that you're working in. However, living up Northern New Jersey to centeral New Jersey, the living expenses are fairy lower and nurses earn on the 30s hourly with an annual salary of about 65-80k on average depending on the facility that you're working in. Around here though, the pay is on the 20s and a salary of about 51-55k. which is a big shocker for me because I actually thought it would be at least around 60-70k here in upstate NY. My first job offer offered me 51k salary and I was shocked but I love the facility judging from the interview and orientation.
