I applied Fall 2017 the first time. The second try was Spring 2018, which I got in. I've heard and also witnessed that more people apply in Fall. When I applied to LACC Fall their were 400+ applicants. I think this spring was around 300. So I would say you have a chance. Stay positive and attend orientation and pay for the classes. Btw, i'm going to delete this post soon because I can probably get in trouble for giving too much info online ������������ I don't want to run that risk. Plus, less people will know about this info & hopefully be discouraged to attend giving you a greater chance to get in. I hope to see you in Orientation Edith :)

Work has been crazy for me. Wish I couldv'e replied sooner. By the end of orientation I dropped to number 7. I went to the MOAB and two more people dropped bumping me up to number 3 and that's where I stayed.

Applicants that accept their spot will receive a letter and a medical packet. Alternates, like how I was last semester, will only receive a letter. Once you are accepted as an alternate you will get mailed a packet. If it is last minute, like at orientation, it will be hand delivered. As I called every week, my number did go up. One week i'd be 40, the other i'd be 35, and so on. That's how I knew students were beginning to decline.

I was in the same position as you, so I understand the frustration and confusion. I made this thread and I didn't receive answers lol. That is why I am giving you insight on what I experienced. Usually students take about 2 weeks to make a decision to either accept or decline their spot. I waited those two weeks and started checking my status once a week. You're going to receive a letter invitation from the program for the orientation through your mail in about a week or so. The letter is going to have your alternate number, date of orientation, and time.

You are welcome Edith. To answer your question; from what I remember, I was 5-7 spots away from getting in. About ten people didn't show up on orientation day, and the alternates that were there got automatic spots (by alternate number). But it also depends on how many alternates show up trying to get in as well. That day, there were about 20 alternates that showed up. I highly encourage that you show up on orientation day :). I was so close in getting in and my number was higher than yours!

I didn't get in. Students that had alternate numbers as high as 30 got in. I reapplied for Spring and got in. There is still hope ! Good luck :)

My first orientation is August 16 for the MOAB class

I talked to someone who applied for it and then changed his mind. You have to have a good GPA on your first semester of the nursing program, after you speak to the nursing counselor that you are interested in the Adn-bsn. It's a 3 year program, the first year it's all at LACC then second year it's both LACC and CSULA. I know it's a big coincidence that you are #42 and I am #41 so I called the nursing counselor to verify. He said that our number is our place on the waiting list of alternates. Let's just hope many students choose another school so that we have a chance. I stil called to hold my spot because it's my first choice

I sent the nursing counselor an email about that and he hasn't responded lol. I also called to ask and the person on the phone told me that it means 40 people are ahead of me. The letter they sent it said I am alternate "41". I guess four people already declined. I did see that old thread and my hopes were high haha. I hope I get in. I still have a glimmer of hope.

Has any alternate heard back?

Some point based systems are great like LA county. But PCC takes account bachelor's degrees, work experience, and all these circumstance points. That chews me up pretty good. I only have volunteer experience but I had

I have like 60 points I believe. I don't have a bachelors and I got a bad score on my TEAS. I didn't have time to study and got a 69. I bet everyone else's application is more competitive. But I hope my grades are my saving grace. I didnt get into LACC or GCC, I'm an alternate.

At GCC they have a cut score which is pretty high. I know two people that got in with a 3.0 and 3.3 gpa. It's not a point based system. There is going to be a second lottery for alternates, but I wonder for how many spaces ? The lottery system is so unfair.

I am so anxious. This wait on PCC seems eternal.

Is PCC entirely a point based system or also a lottery of it exceeds qualified applicants? I have good grades so I hope I get in.

I didn't get into LACC, GCC, and CSULA. I think I have 79 points. I am waiting on PCC aside from County. I am happy with any program I get into at this point.
