I had friends with 25 points that got in and were not wait listed. The entire orientation they are working in the background seeing who showed and who can be added from the wait list.

I am currently a Nursing student at Grayson. When I got in for the Fall 2017, I got my email the 12th of June. I had 26 points. There were about 10 to 15 people on the waiting list and they all were accepted at orientation. The instructors took more students than they had intended to be able to get the last couple of wait listers that remained. So, even if you get wait listed the odds are high you'll be accepted. Also, if in any way possible, try to buy your books from the book store or publishers website in the set. You will save money and have access to all the online resources. Another huge tip, PRE-ORDER your books ASAP. My first semester several folks went without books for weeks. Thankfully I preordered mine. Hopefully you guys hear something soon! Please lmk if ya'll have any questions! I know how overwhelming the beginning of nursing school is and don't mind shedding some light!

This thread is in regards to the ADN program. So...Im not sure how much of the information I gave actually pertains to you! Sorry! Anybody else know what is 3 semesters and a summer course?

The program is 4 semesters. I started this fall and will graduate spring 2019. The only class you get an actual letter grade in is lecture and it is based on 5 exams and a comprehensive final exam. The passing grade is a 74.5. The lab class is either complete or not. And clinical is graded on a weekly evaluation while in clinical (8 weeks) you can receive a 1-4 (1 unsatisfactory, 2 needs improvement, 3 satisfactory, 4 above average) in multiple evaluation criteria with a 3 average to pass with a "satisfactory". The clinical sites are all in Sherman- Denison and one group went to Durant, Oklahoma. It's about 30 minutes away from the college.

Overall it is a great program. I LOVE all the Nursing 1 instructors...they are incredibly helpful. The first few weeks are overwhelming but it levels out. There are some out of pocket expenses in the first couple weeks that are kind of a burden if you're a full time student (scrubs, stethescope, BP cuff.). Clinicals were a blast! You start them a couple months in..you have to take a little test to show you're ready. It was pretty simple. You also have to take a pharmacologic math test and make at least a 90 on it. It's 10 questions, you have 3 chances to pass it. They do offer an optional class through the center for workplace learning before the semester starts to help you with the math...I took it and DID NOT find it beneficial. I feel like YouTube could have done a better job! You do get 1 hr of lecture on it and that was enough for me. I passed the 1st time. You'll have a theory course, lab course, and several weeks in you'll start clinical. We were in class Wed, thurs, and then your chosen clinical day (mon, tues, or fri)..but during the first 6 weeks-ish you'll have strictly theory and a few labs and be in class 4 days a week I believe. I could go on forever about details...im just trying to recall things I would have wanted to know! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hey! I just wanted to let everyone know if you are planning on using financial aid of any sort for books, be it a scholarship, loan, or grants... The bookstore doesn't have any of the aid informatio n yet. I would call before you waste a trip going up there like I did!

I actually had a friend send me a picture of what was in the lab kit we purchased, it looks like it may come with a bag. Not sure but from the pic it appears there is one included. I guess these are good questions for the first day! I just was out shopping and wanted to get it while I had cash on hand if I needed one. I think I am going to wait though and see what's in the kit.

What kind of bag are you guys going to use for clinicals? Or any current students who can recommend one that they use? Backpack? Special bags for nurses? Lol...HELP! í ½í¸„í ½í¸‰

Sounds about what I had planned. I have a folder that I've kept my admission stuff in that I was going to bring that has proof of physical,Tb test shot records in case we need to register for that database they mentioned. And of course something to take notes with! I can't wait! We've all worked so hard jumping through the hoops and getting the grades to be here! I'm ecstatic! Can't wait to meet you all! I'll be wearing a tiffany green jacket so feel free to say hi!

Good Morning! So, weird question.... I was checking out my viking today and for some reason my pell grant awards have disappeared from the financial aid section.... anyone else logged in and noticed the same? The office is closed today so I can't call but it freaked me out a little...lol...can someone log in and lmk if you're experiencing the same thing?

Is that where the pharmacological math course is helpful?
