Problem solving for a nursing interview

Published

I am looking for some guidance for giving an example for problem solving in a nursing interview... I use critical thinking and problem solving all the time but for some reason I feel like I'm drawing a blank. I'm a home hospice nurse so bottom line is when there's an issue for a patient you are the only person assessing the patient and then make a call if med changes are needed. But still, all I can think of are our biggest issues like symptom management...For example, a patient complains of shortness of breath. After assessing and vitals, I realize they're in fluid overload, give morphine to help sob and obtain new orders either for increasing their meds or giving IV lasix.. Even though in that situation you are thinking and making decisions , I feel like the interventions are obvious and not necessarily a great example for an interview.
