Prison security clearance

Published

I am a new LVN and have an interview at a prison here in Texas. On the job description it says security clearance is required, can someone explain to me what all this entails? UTMB does the hiring, they are contracted through the prison in Texas. I also have a "relative" ( my boyfriends uncle) who is on a unit 100 miles away, I am on his visit list and have visited twice.. Will this affect anything? Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks!

You will have a background check. They will have you fill out a personal history and choose to call/interview people you list as well as people associated with previous employment and schooling. They may also run a credit check.

Thanks kodc.. Do you know anything about how being on a visitation list at another unit influences whether they hire you or not. I am on the visitation list of my boyfriends uncle and have visited him twice.. The unit is 100 miles away from the unit I am interviewing at.

I wouldn't hide that information. If you present it up front, then you aren't hiding anything. You keep quiet and they find out....then they have reason to wonder what else you aren't talking about

I worked for UTMB/TDCJ they ask if you are on anyone visitation list. It's not a big deal but I'm sure they just want to know just in case you end up working at the same prison.
