priority nursing question

Okay, first I stuggle in School as I am sure a lot do but I mean this whole heartedly I have to read things 8~9 times before I grasp things. So to make sure I understand I ask. Hands on I understand much more quickly. (just wanted to say that BC sometimes I get some rude answers for questions...I am trying to learn as I don't know everything) so glaucoma..when we have increased ocular pressure am I right that my intervention would to sit the patient up at 45 ~90 degrees because my understanding is that laying flat is going to increase pressure. This to me is priority...thoughts? Insights? Thank you.

Hi LOLA184!!!

I need more info...is this a patient, a NCLEX question??

I only ask because your response to position the pt as a priority, and I automatically think of it as an exam question. If you are speaking generally, then, it depends in the pt, their symptoms, is it acute, or chronic. For example if I have a pt with a history of glaucoma, I'm not necessarily concerned with positioning, because they are receiving treatment to help preserve the vision that they have left; I am concerned about their sensory deficit in terms of safety. I would intervene if they are having increased symptoms; but you did not state signs and symptoms, etc.

I have a link in terms of glaucoma nursing care from a blog:

Hope this helps!
