Preparing for first job as RN Intern...

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am a new grad and have been hired into an internship position. I start in a few weeks and am wondering what I should be doing to prepare? I've been looking over my Reviews and Rationale book a little bit, but have truthfully been enjoying my "time off" for the last few months....I'd also appreciate any advice/wisdom since this is my first job as an RN...thank you!

Congratulations on being accepted into the program.

Carefully review all of the goals and objectives for your internship. You should be provided with specific information about your new employer's expectations - what has to be accomplished within specific time frames. This will serve as your guide - what to focus on at any given time in the process. Make sure you receive regularly scheduled feedback on your performance. This discussion should include not only your progress on goal achievement to date, but also the plan for accomplishing the next set of goals.

Best of luck to you!

How Can I get a job like that? It seems like I will never get a job because I have no experience! I need help!
