precip delivery

i tried posting this earlier, but i guess i forgot to hit submit?? anyway...

last wk i had a g5p2 that came in about 2030 and was 40+3wks. we admitted and pitted her. anyway, she got complete and +2. well, i am kicking myself and hating myself for not calling the doctor then to come for delivery since she was g5, but she did not push all that great at first. so i had her up in stirrups, pushing and then i told her to stop, (had someone call md then,) and about 3 min later, head popped out. well, delivery went fine and apgars were 8 and 9, but i still cant get over that i didnt call to begin with.. ugggghhhhh!!!! bad thing is, this happened w/the same doctor about a year and a half ago... i bet he really thinks i am incompetent now.... well, i just had to vent....

WoW! I read your post. You are not an idiot. Just human. Your judgement was a little off. In hindsight, you know exactly what to do. That's because hindsight is perfect. Don't beat yourself up. Just look at this learn from it and move on. I am pretty certain the doc has had his share of mis-judgements too.

If you did call him when she started pushing, she'd still be pushing. :lol2:

We like to think we know when babies are coming, but they like to surprise us sometimes. Sometimes that's alot faster than we thought, and sometimes it takes a heck of alot longer than we expect.

Don't beat yourself up, it happens to all of us.
