HI Guys! I just got accepted to the GW FNP program although they require students to find their own preceptors, I am wondering if anyone here has any experince with this or could help. I am in jersey area but can relocate to the VA/DC to do my clinicals.
Thanks

Hi
wanted to find out how the program is going for you and how difficult was it to find a preceptor in NJ? Did you end up moving to the DMV area?
I applied to GW for Fall 2020 and application is still under review. Thank you

Sadly this common
From Sawyer Initiative:
"Identified Problems
There is a growing problem in which online schools require Nurse Practitioner (NP) students to find their own clinical site, preceptor, and prepare their own clinical experience.
Students must coordinate affiliation agreements and find clinical preceptors for their schools and for them self.
Many NP students are unable to find clinical placement, lack resources, and therefore cannot complete their degree.
Students unable to fulfill the practicum obligations have significant loss of time and financial damages.
There are more NP students than there are clinical sites to accommodate.

Schools are not required to balance the number of students with clinical sites."

I was almost done with my FNP where we had to find preceptors. Sadly my last two clinicals, after a year of looking, I could not find a preceptor for. Ended up dropping out and finding a program that found them for me. Dallas market was rough. Just food for thought.
Thank you for the information.
