Preceptor

I am down to the last weeks of my class. I have to pick three places to do my preceptorship in----I like L&D, Peds, Mom and baby, but I am also interested in peds oncology.

What would you suggest?

from your listed interests, I would suggest

1 - L&D - you could decide from there if you liked the labor and delivery aspect, or if you would prefer to work with the moms and their babies.

2 - Peds oncology - you could decide if the oncology aspect was right for you or not, or if you would rather do general peds instead.

3 - General pediatrics - you would get a wide variety of exposures here, which would show you the other aspects of pediatrics beyond peds oncology. Mom and baby/couplet care is pretty straightforward, and I think you would probably get an idea from an L&D preceptorship whether you would enjoy it or not.

Of course these are just my ideas, maybe someone else may have a different way of looking at it. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

you mention peds and peds onc. so i'd do peds first (to get the more general aspect of it), then peds onc, then L&D.

good luck!

love, rose
