Hi, my name is Asha. I want to go to BMCC's nursing program. I was enrolled as a student in BMCC in 2008 under a general Liberal Arts degree. I took a few prerequisite courses but dropped out and didn't finish the semester. I recieved failing grades. I went there today and was told by Academic Advisement and the Nursing department that since I failed my prerequisites (Eng 101 and Math 104) that I cannot qualify take the nursing program at BMCC or ANY CUNY college for that matter since "grades don't expire" in the CUNY system. The lady in the Nursing department told me that even if I file for an appeal to allow me to retake those classes, the Nursing program ONLY EXCEPTS THE FIRST GRADE YOU MAKE IN THOSE CLASSES!
Does anyone know of a way around this? I really had my heart set on this. Finally got my act together and paid off the outstanding remaining tuition that kept me from re-admitting. I get re-admitted and was told that I don't qualify for the degree I want to persue! I can take any other degree under BMCC'S roof except the one that I want!
