Are there any programs available for pre-licensure distance education? I'm currently taking my pre-nursing classes online through a traditional university, but because my husband is in the military and we're stationed out in the middle of nowhere, there aren't any local schools (or vocational programs) that offer nursing, and my current school only offers clinicals on campus. I'd love to find a program that would allow me to take the didactic portion of nursing classes online, and then complete my clinicals in a local community setting, or similar option.
Since I don't currently hold a license, I'm not eligible for Excelsior or any of the other BSN programs I've found online.
Any information would be appreciated! :)

My husband is in the Army too; I'll graduate from nursing school next semester with Deaconess College of Nursing and I did it all online except for clinical that I did at an Army Hospital and I took one trip to Campus in St. Louis for clinical validation with the instructor once in the end of each semester. Their website is http://www.deaconess.edu
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I have been looking for! Yay! :)

Deaconess College of Nursing offers an adn online. They are located in St. Louis, MO. You would need to find a clinical site. I do not know what state you live but some states have restrictions. So it is always best to call you state's BON to find out if there are any restrictions. Check out their website deaconess.edu Currently, they are accepting applications for Jan 2006 the deadline to turn in application, transcripts etc is Oct 1. Also, there are current deaconess students on this forum who are absolutely wonderful and are always willing to help you with questions or concerns . Good Luck :) Colleen
