I JUST STARTED L/D AND A SEASONED NURSE GAVE ME A GREAT REFERENCE BOOK AS A GRAD GIFT IT IS::
ACUTE OBSTETRICS
3RD ED
DR. M HEPPARD/
DR. T GARITE
PUBLISHED BY MOSBY
IT COVERS MOST HIGH RISK ISSUES INCLUDING HIV.
GOOD READ, IT IS A EASY BOOK TO USE TOO, GIVING ACOG STANDARDS ON PIT, TOCOLYSIS AND MGS04.
Thanks for the recommendation!!
I've heard that Michelle Murray is supposed to be like the authority on obstetrics. Can anyone recommend a good basic guide by her that I could use at work?

My students use Olds, London, Ladewig & Davidson's Clinical Handook for Maternal Newborn Nursing: A Community Based Approach (7th ed). Prentice Hall Health in Upper Saddle River, NJ is the publisher. A new edition just came out, so I don't have the ISBN number. The nurses on my unit like the manual so much that they are begging for my old edition copies. That gives is alot of credit in my mind.

the labor and delivery in my pocket is nice and small and a good reference. it really helped me as a new L&D nurse
Just wanted to follow up and let ya'll know that I received my pocket guide for labor and delivery in the mail today. It is small but very comprehensive, and I can tell I'm going to get a great deal of use out of it.
It has an awesome amount of info- everything from about protocols for every emergency situation imaginable in L&D to common meds used in labor/PP.
It's really nice and I'd highly recommend it to any other labor nurse out there who's looking for something similar :)
