PLEASE HELP! Think I failed NCLEX for the second time.. need advice

Published

Hi everyone.. I graduated in May with my BSN in nursing.. I took my nclex for the first time 2 months ago and I sat for the whole 265 questions in 3.5 hours and did not pass. I was at the passing line for almost every category when i got my results back from pearson. To prepare I did many nclex questions from Lippincott everyday for a couple of weeks before the exam.

When i found out i failed, I signed up for the Kaplan classroom course. I attended every class, I did all 1300 Q bank questions.. I studied many hours each day for the 2nd exam.. I took the rediness exam and i felt very confident going into the exam this time, when i did not feel confident at all going in the first time.

I took the nclex again today for the second time. I got cut off at 75Q after 2 hours. I took my time and read every question twice because the first time around I went very fast and rushed after I got to 250.

I tried to do the pearson VUE trick today 30 minutes after the exam and it brought me to the credit card page to let me re register.. Did I really fail?!?! How could i go from close to passing to totally tanking after preparing so much more?!?! I felt really good walking out of the exam today. I really hope I did not fail. Someone please give me hope and/or kind words and tell me the trick is not always right!!!! I feel so down right now!!! I will get my results on thursday to find out for sure.. but someone please tell me the trick is not always right:banghead::(:dead:

ps- PLEASE leave me advice here for anyone who took the test more than once and what put you over that pass line to get your RN!! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP AND FEEDBACK.. THANK YOU

While the PVT is usually accurate, it is NOT 100% accurate as a couple of recent threads at the forum will attest to. Here's one of them:

So try to stay calm until you receive the official word from Pearson.

Good luck.

So I also took the NCLEX for the second time today. Here is my story:

I took the NCLEX in June and used only ATI to study. I got all 265 questions and failed. I had at the passing level for all areas except pharm, which was under passing level. So I decided to take a new way of studying. About three weeks ago I started studying again. One of my friends had taken the Hurst course. So I decided to use her book and go through it. After that, I used Saunder's book for questions. I did about 1000 questions in the past week. Yesterday, I did about 500 of those questions. I had my sister take my dog for the past couple of days so I could have pure quiet. Then today, I got up, ate breakfast, showered, and then went to take my exam. I used the earplugs and the headset to make the environment purely quiet- just like when I studied. I took 75 questions in about an hour and walked out to the "good popup" of the Pearson Vue Trick.

Practicing questions helped to come up with the different strategies of taking the questions. It isn't ALWAYS ABC's. Take your time and be patient. You will have success. Good Luck!

thank you both.. yes i'm waiting for thursday morning to come and just PRAYING idk how i could go from 265 almost passing to totally tanking and getting cut off at 75.. so sad right now

Hi I just took my NCLEX for the second time today. I am in a smiler situation I went to the whole 265 questions the first time receiving close to passing in all subjects. I took it today and it cut off at 75. I felt confident I passes because I put so much time into studying but the Pearson trick is saying that I didn't.

Did you end up passing?

Did I really fail at 75 after almost passing the first time?!!

I took the test this morning for my second time. 90% of my questions were SATA. And it shut off at 75. I am so nervous, I don't have the guts to check the PVT. Has anyone heard of if you get a lot of SATA that it is a good thing? I thought I read that somewhere. Thanks guys!

Ya i read it here too that many satas are a good sign. Good luck

hey .. did u pass???
